I PURCHASED THE WESTIE WITH GREAT DREAMS...BUT ABOUT 10 YEARS TO LATE!  :-)  MY WIFE CAN'T MAKE THE CLIMB UP INTO THE BUNK!

ANYWAY...I'VE HAD DONE IN THE PAST YEAR...I HAD THE ENGINE REMOVED AND COMPLETELY REBUILT AND DETAILED.  NEW EXAUST...AND EVEN HEATER BOX FLAPPERS.  NEW FUEL FILTER AND PUMP...GAS TANK ALSO CLEANED.

ALSO...IT IS ABOUT 93% ORIGINAL PAINT!  MAKING UP THE 7% IS:  THE SLIDING DOOR HAD A SMALL DING ON THE BOTTOM...(TYPICAL...) SO THAT WAS REPAIRED AND PAINTED...ALSO...THERE WERE TWO TINY 1/8" IMPERFECTIONS ON THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOW GASKET AREA'S THAT WE HAD PAINTED TOO.

THE INTERIOR AND FABRIC ARE VIRTUALLY LIKE NEW. I DID PURCHASE NEW MATCHING FABRIC FOR THROW PILLOWS...IT WILL BE INCLUDE.  AND I ALSO HAD THE POP TOP SCREEN PROFESSIONALLY REMOVED AND REPLACED.

THINGS I WOULD STILL DO...

THE FRIG. DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING?...BUT I'M ALSO NOT FAMILIAR ENOUGH WITH IT...BUT IT STILL DOES HAVE IT’S ORIGINAL ICE TRAY!!  :-)

ALSO...THE STOVE WORKS...BUT MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE IS A LEAK AT THE GAS VALE ITSELF...I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE NEW PROPANE  TANK SET AT GOWESTIE FOR $500.00 IF I WERE TO HAVE KEPT IT.

OTHER THINGS DONE...I REMOVED THE SLIDING DOOR AND REAR DOOR PANEL PAPER.  I HAVE NEW PAPER TO REPLACE IT.

SO TO SUM IT UP!...

THIS WESTIE IS ABOUT THE NICEST WESTIE I HAVE EVER SEEN OR DRIVEN!!  AND UNBELIEVABLY...YOU WON'T BELIEVE OF HOW QUIET THE ENGINE IS!...AND OF HOW STRONG IT IS!  AMAZING!...

Watch the VW E-Golf get made

Fri, Jun 13 2014

If you've ever been on a tour of an automotive factory, you know how mesmerizing it can be to see humans and robots work together to build our four-wheeled friends. The swift automation, the cleanliness, the trained hands deftly fitting pieces together and watchful eyes inspecting every piece of the car, it's all quite impressive, especially if the vehicle is one you, as an observer, are fond of. Even just seeing a fresh, gleaming badge being applied to immaculately painted sheet metal is enough to curl ones toes. Such is the case with this video from of the E-Golf being pieced together in the Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant. There's no narration or music - just the sounds of production - so it's easy to follow the singular motions that go into the process without distraction, with a slight sense of actually being on the floor. This solo video is only seven minutes long, so it's not quite the epic that was the BMW i3 production series. Therefore, we miss a lot of the initial build, such as pressing the sheet metal, painting, and putting together a lot of the inner workings. What is refreshing to see is how much of the final touches of the electric Golf are done by hand using actual hand tools (and with typical German efficiency). There's even a person riding a bicycle through the factory at one point, which is common at Wolfsburg and also rather quaint. Enjoy the video below, and if you have a suggestion for a good soundtrack to go along with it, sound off in the comments. This content is hosted by a third party. Volkswagen building budget car family planned for China in 2018

Mon, Jun 29 2015

Volkswagen has publicly pondered a low-cost car for China, something akin to Nissan's Datsun revival in Southeast Asia, for at least three years. In 2013 it tapped Chinese partner FAW to help develop an entire budget brand, with plans to have something on the market in 2016 in the 6,000- to 8,000-euro range. About a year ago, VW said it couldn't figure out how to engineer an inexpensive car that didn't run counter to the brand's values, then three weeks later said it had overcome the issues. Reuters now reports that VW CEO Martin Winterkorn told German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, "We will bring a budget-car family to market in 2018, with an SUV, saloon and hatchback." Winterkorn didn't offer any other details like who VW would work with to build it - VW has partnerships with both FAW and SAIC, but the announcement will be welcomed by the brand's Chinese outpost. When this adventure started, VW said it was working to create a model that would cost 6,000 to 8,000 euro. That estimate has increased. Winterkorn is now saying the 2018 offerings will come in between 8,000 and 11,000 euro. In a straight euro-to-yuan conversion, that would equate to Chinese pricing of 56,000 to 77,000 yuan. For comparison, the New Polo with a 1.4-liter engine and a manual transmission starts at 85,900 yuan. Perhaps with an eye on the success of the Nissan-Renault sub-brand Dacia in Europe and emerging markets, Winterkorn told Bild, "We will see if this is something of interest for other markets as well." On the opposite end of the price/performance spectrum, Winterkorn also said that VW is working on two new models for Bugatti, one powered by a traditional gasoline engine and another with some sort of hybrid setup. The latter model would reportedly be the higher-performing of the two, though it's not clear whether there would be two vehicle lines or two versions of the same vehicle. As ever, as soon as we know more, so will you.

VW makes $9.2B offer for rest of truckmaker Scania

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Volkswagen owns or has controlling interests in three commercial truck operations: besides its own, VW began buying shares in Sweden's Scania in 2000 and now controls 89.2 percent of its shares and 62.6 percent of its capital, then bought into Germany's Man in 2006 - in order to prevent Man from trying to take over Scania - and now owns 75 percent of it. The car company has managed to work out 200 million euros in savings, but believes it can unlock a total of 650 million euros in savings if it takes outright control of Scania and can spread more common parts among the three divisions.
It has proposed a 6.7-billion-euro ($9.2 billion) buyout, but according to a Bloomberg report, Scania's minority investors don't appear inclined to the deal. Although effectively controlled by VW, Scania is an independently-listed Swedish company, and a profitable one at that: in the January-September 2013 period its operating profit was 9.4 percent compared to Man's 0.4 percent. Some of the other shareholders believe that Scania is better off on its own and will not approve the deal, some have asked an auditor to look into the potential conflict of interest between VW and Man, while some are willing to examine the deal and "make an evaluation based on what a long-term owner finds is good," which might not be just "the stock market price plus a few percent." The buyout will only be official assuming VW can reach the 90-percent share threshold that Swedish law mandates for a squeeze-out.
Many of the arguments against boil down to investors believing that Scania's Swedishness and unique offerings are what keep it profitable, and ownership by the German car company will kill that. (Have we heard that somewhere before?) If Volkswagen can buy that additional 0.8-percent share in Scania, perhaps its buyout wrangling with Man will give it an idea of what it's in for: "dozens" of minority investors in the German truckmaker have filed cases against VW, seeking higher prices for their shares. It is likely only to delay the inevitable, though. If VW is really going to compete with Daimler and Volvo in the truck market, it has to get the size, clout and savings to do so.
