I am selling my beautiful rust free 1982 Westfalia Diesel Vanagon.  It has been lovingly restored to original.  It has an original 1.6 liter naturally aspirated diesel motor and the 4 speed manual transmission.  The car has 144,xxx miles on it and the motor has between 100k and 150k but I am not sure.  It runs very well and all systems are go.

The body has no rust!  This car is very clean and dry.  It has had a couple of tiny dents and rust spots professionally removed and the body was given a beautiful original color paint job.  The poptop was removed and painted and cleaned and a BRAND NEW 3 window tent was installed along with all new gaskets for the poptop.  The interior is in great condition.  All upholstery is clean and there are no rips in anything.  Stove, fridge and sink are all there although I have not tested the gas stove and fridge yet.  Front seats spin around so you can sit at the fold up table.  It comes with an ok stereo - nothing amazing but it works well.
Mechanically it is in great shape.  The motor is strong but notoriously underpowered - it is a way of life!  Clutch is brand new and catches very high.  Transmission shifts great and of course all gears work fine.  Brakes have lots of meat and the front suspension was just brought up to speed.  Coolant system was pressure tested and works as it should.  Electrical system is good. Exhaust system is tight
I will sell it with 2 sets of tires.  New Michelin harmony 15 inch on alloys and old tires on steel 14 inch rims.
It will come with lots of extra parts and books if you want them.

Issues...
None really.  It is a 31 year old car so there will be things to fix along the way.  The red light comes on sometimes on the dash for the temp gauge but the actual temperature is fine and as I mentioned the coolant system is all great and just pressure tested.  The horn seems to have stopped working but I will see what is up and fix that.  I was told that the ignition switch is intermittent but I never noticed anything.  It could use a better stereo but this is all fun and easy stuff!

The car is ready to drive but if you want to drive it home to California I would check it all out first.  I would be happy to show it to local bidders so contact me if you would like to arrange that.

I know what this car is worth.  The combination of diesel and Westfalia is rare enough and put it on a rust free body in New England and you have a very sweet ride!  I know that a similar car in CA went for over $20k recently.

Volkswagen Passat gets Wolfsburg Edition, priced from $23,495*

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Volkswagen has just announced a new Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which slots between the base S and mid-grade SE trims in terms of content and price. The automaker has not released any official photos of the car as of this writing (aside from the badge shot you see here, of course), but the Wolfsburg Passat will be visually set apart from the rest by a unique set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
The big host of upgrades for the Wolfsburg Edition are found inside, where buyers will enjoy standard amenities like leatherette seats (with bun-warmers on the front chairs), a power driver's seat, satellite radio and a media interface with iPod connectivity. Of course, this comes on top of the already standard Passat features like Bluetooth and auto on/off headlamps. The Wolfsburg Passat will only be available with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Look for the 2013 Wolfsburg Edition Passat to hit dealerships in the very near future, priced from $23,495, *not including $795 for destination. Have a look below for Volkswagen's official press blast.

2023 CES Editors' Picks

Mon, Jan 9 2023

Over the past few years, it has become more and more clear that the Consumer Electronics Show is a car show. And this year that reality is more clear than ever. Not only did established automakers show off seriously important vehicles, but a traditional electronics company brought a car that gives an idea of its intents (with the help of establishment car company). With so many car reveals, we had to rank our favorites. Our picks for this show are entirely electric. Or at least, they are on paper, since many are concepts. Considering the name of the show, it would be a little strange if they weren't. In fact, not only are many of our favorites concepts, they all are save for one. See how they shook out below. VW ID7 camo View 28 Photos 5. Volkswagen ID.7 "The ID.7 definitely got lost in the crowd at CES. That it was camouflaged definitely didn't help, even if that camo was electroluminescent (BMW trumped it big time with its color-changing Dee). Nevertheless, this is a close-to-production hatchback-ed sedan, not unlike today's Arteon, with an extra-long wheelbase courtesy its EV architecture. It should be a solid answer to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, and even if people obviously prefer SUVs now, VW says there is still a market for sedans. I know I'd probably prefer one." –Senior Editor, West Coast and Reviews, James Riswick Peugeot Inception concept View 12 Photos 4. Peugeot Inception "It's not often that show debuts surprise us. While Peugeot teased the Inception ahead of CES, its unveiling seemed almost incidental. But just look at this thing; it's like an electric French Mustang with someplace important to be. I don't buy into the stupid 'It's not a wheel!' thing that Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson described as providing a video-game-like drive experience, but that bit of silliness aside, this is a really promising design study. Give us more of these and fewer tall boxes, please." –Associate Editor Byron Hurd Afeela prototype from Sony Honda Mobility View 11 Photos 3. Afeela by Sony Honda “Ever since Sony showed off an impressively put-together concept car at CES a few years ago, IÂ’ve been anticipating the companyÂ’s next move. Apparently, that next move is “Afeela.” No, I donÂ’t love the name. The specs from SonyÂ’s original concept car give me hope that this prototype sportback (itÂ’s a hatchback!) will be fun to drive, though.
