1979 VW BUS CAMPMOBILE DELUXE WESTFALIA. This is a hard to find "TRUE SURVIVOR" westfalia campmobile with original factory Mexico Beige paint in awesome condition and complete clean interior. This bus is waiting for that buyer who prefers the feeling of owning and driving an 'unrestored' vehicle in much better condition that many restored buses around. Original owner had it since new until 2010 when it was sold to second owner who made the mechanical maintenance to make it 100% road worthy and some cosmetic improvements including but not limited to install new canvas top and new tires. It runs great and starts at any time on all weather conditions. It idles and accelerates like it was made for. Transmission shifts in all gears as it should with no weird noises at all. Suspension is also great and drives straight on the road, steering wheel is tight with no play and still plenty of thread left to adjust in the future. Odometer shows 94,115 original miles. Exterior looks awesome, original paint still shines pretty well with some minor dings and dents mostly at the sliding door but not very noticeable. Accident free bus. No body work ever!!!!!! World Car Awards finalists snub American-branded vehicles — except for Bronco
Fri, Feb 2 2024The list of World Car Awards has been whittled down to 10 finalists, but only one American brand — Ford — appears among the remaining nine carmakers for this yearÂ’s top award. The Bronco is there, and it also is balloted as a finalist in the design category. The other categories are performance car, urban car, electric vehicle and luxury model. Each category has five finalists except World Car, which has 10. One brand conspicuous by its absence in any category: Tesla. The winner in each is scheduled to be crowned March 27 at the New York International Auto Show in Manhattan. This year marks the 20th year of the World Car Awards and the partnership with the New York show. The selection process involves 100-plus automotive journalists from 29 countries who vote, as they review and test-drive the eligible vehicles for the 2024 awards. Their journey is captured virtually on World Car TV. If youÂ’re counting, the brands that appear most on the six finals lists are Mercedes-Benz (four times), BMW (also four), Hyundai (three), and Volvo (three). HereÂ’s the full listing. Taxpayers wasted $51 million on VW diesel credits
Wed, Sep 23 2015The scope of Volkswagen's diesel emission rules evasion continues to widen with 11 million vehicles now potentially affected around the world, and the company is setting aside over $7 billion to start paying for it all. However, the costs could go even deeper. In a piece that's well worth a read, an analysis by The LA Times finds that the government distributed as much as $51 million in green car subsidies to buyers of these models in 2009 – the first year of the dishonest engine management software. The short-term effects of this scandal on VW are already quite dire. On September 21, the company's stock fell over 20 percent at one point on the German exchange, ended down 17.8 percent that day, and have continued to tank. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency has forced a stop-sale on 2015 and 2016 diesel models with the 2.0 TDI, and the agency has begun analyzing the 3.0-liter V6 TDI in the Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, and Porsche Cayenne to look for similar issues. The Justice Department has also started a criminal investigation, and the automaker has instituted its own external probe, as well. The emissions irregularities were first discovered by researchers at West Virginia University and the International Council on Clean Transportation. The EPA and California Air Resources Board were eventually made aware and launched their own investigations.
