1976 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Bus-Nice!

Up for sale is a really nice 1976 VW Westfalia Camper Bus.  It's an ALL original bus will the green plaid interior seats, sleeps 4 comfortably (upper and lower seat/fold down bed), and original AM/FM Radio still in dash!  Automatic Transmission shifts great and brakes recently serviced with new pads/drums.  Original VW green carpet kit throughout the van still intact and kitchen cabinet area with sink.  This VW Bus was brought over from San Diego, California 10 years ago.  I have receipts and records to follow with van throughout its history.

Exterior:
The bus is in great shape. It was repainted by the previous owner to match factory original green and it looks stunning!  There are small imperfections, dents and scratches but nothing significant or easily noticeable. This bus is almost 40 years old and in amazing condition for the age. It has been stored inside since I've had it.  All the glass is original (couple nicks on windshield) and the doors open and close with ease.

Interior:
The ALL ORIGINAL INTERIOR is in good used condition.  The front seat edges is showing some wear.  A few nicks here and there on the furniture.  Also it appears the sink faucet head was replaced with newer one.  Original green curtain set 360 degrees.  Slide in table also included with sale.

The Engine:
The engine is the pancake VW 4 Cylinder 2.0 Liter, replaced by the previous owner 6 years ago.  It runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly.  Converted to carb last year and I like it!

The Good:
This classic VW Bus is in great shape and could be easily taken to VW Shows/Events or left as a daily driver or used for camping trip. It doesn't have any significant rust which is remarkable for it age.  It drives and shifts better that any other bus I've ever driven. They all seem to be a little finicky but this one it really straight forward and relatively easy to drive. The light and turn signals works as they should.  All tires and original rims in good condition and currently don't need any attention.  VW hubcaps and all chrome handles are shiny and looks really sharp!

Things to do in near future:
This is a 37 year old vehicle so not everything look brand new. There are small imperfection in the interior and exterior. The gas gauge flickers at times but I was told this is an easy fix.  The canvas should be replaced since its original so I'm including a BRAND NEW Canvas and Gasket for the new owner ($550 value).  I purchased from Bus Depot two weeks ago. I took the rear white bumper off to sand and repaint but liked it actually without since its so clean in the back.  This bus does have minor room for improvement but is in amazing condition given the age.

This is a no reserve auction and the winning bidder drives away with an amazing all original VW Camper Bus with years of enjoyment ahead.  If you have any ?'s, feel free to email me and I will respond asap!  Also, I encourage inspections so I'll be available for showings in sunny Wilmington, NC.  I have the vw bus for sale locally so I reserve the right to end auction early if ready buyer is found.

NOTE: NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDING.  US FUNDS ACCEPTED-CASH, CERTIFIED BANK CHECK, OR WIRE.  As soon as payment is received and cleared, title will be shipped to new owner.

VW internal investigation finds 'no evidence' against suspended engineers

Tue, Oct 6 2015

Volkswagen is still working out the chain of events that led to emissions-evading software being installed in 11 million diesel vehicles worldwide and deciding who was responsible for the treachery. So far, the German automotive giant's internal investigation hasn't publicly named many suspects, and three suspended executive-level engineers have been found not to be culpable in the wrongdoing, according to an anonymous insider speaking to Reuters. VW knows that the software began being installed in the EA 189 engine in 2008. The internal investigation has found that the emissions-evading tech was created because the powerplant was found to fail US standards. Plus, the diesel mill wasn't meeting cost targets, according to Reuters. The automaker responded by suspending over 10 employees, but three top engineers among them might not have been involved. Those put on leave include Heinz-Jakob Neusser from VW, Ulrich Hackenberg from Audi, and Wolfgang Hatz who led Porsche's research and group-wide engine development. The internal detective work hasn't turned up any evidence against these three men. In addition to VW's own inquires, government investigators in both the US and Germany are taking a serious look into the company's actions, too. So far, the automaker is setting aside about $7.3 billion to pay to fix the vehicles with the evasive software. Depending on what authorities find, the costs could grow quickly. Beyond the financial implications, the scandal has led to a serious shakeup in VW's corporate structure. Related Video:

Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once - especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015.
The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well.
For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan - both long rumored to be on their way out - will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment.

VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs

Sat, 01 Mar 2014

Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun.
For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany.
In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe."
