I decided to post my baby up for sale.... A 1972 Volkswagen bus. It has been brought to a professional paint shop, all of the layers of old paint were sanded off down to the metal, and it was then primered and painted two-tone yellow and white. This new pant job has a nice thick clear coat and is only a year old! I tried to make it look like the bus from Little Miss Sunshine, it definitely turns lots of heads with this paint. It has absolutely no rust (other than a little battery tray rust) and only has 1 very small (not noticable) nick in the paint on the edge of the slider door due to a part on it malfunctioning (that I fixed). It is a "Deluxe" bus, which means it has original chrome trim all the way around and curtain rods inside. It also has new side and front turn signal light lenses as well as new chrome headlight housings, and the "eyebrow" headlight covers. It has new exterior door handles on both the passenger and driver side, and a new interior handle for the slider door. The antennae is new as well, and the windshield wipers work and have been recently replaced. The tires only have about 5-10,000 miles on them and still look brand new, I also have a spare tire and even the plastic cover for it! The windshield is brand new as well, with a new seal around it. This car looks nearly show worthy.
As for the engine, it is the stock Type 4 1700cc Volswagen motor. It has a new clutch and the transmission still works like new with no grinding and shifts smooth. I replaced the old carbs with brand new "baby" Weber 34's, and they work like a charm all the while keeping gas mileage good. The alternator, starter, battery, voltage regulator, and a few other small parts are brand new with warranties. It has Thunderbird exhaust that I repainted with high-temperature black paint. The heater is currently not hooked up, but I have heater boxes and all the necessary parts for it to work, I just haven't gotten around to it. It has a new fuel pump and a new regulator for the pump, as well as all new fuel lines and spark plugs/wires. This bus runs solid and is ready to go!
The interior has all 3 rows of seats, 2 of which have towels on them due to the seats needing reupholstered. The back bench and driver seats are in okay condition. It has shag carpet, as well as all of the panels intact. The headliner is just fine, except for a hole above the passenger seat. I replaced the dash with one from a bus of the same year that looks brand new. The speedometer and fuel gauge both work, and it has a cassette deck in it that serves as a good stereo (with ipod connection) with two 5 inch speakers as well in the front doors. The driver and passenger seats now have retractable seatbelts that I put in as well. I also have a couple boxes of random parts and things for the bus that I've collected. One more thing... I put an alarm system on the bus because I didn't want anyone to touch such a beautiful car. It is vibration/movement sensitive and is easy to use.
I think I covered just about everything, but I've done so many things to improve this bus that I forget everything I've done. This bus is in beautiful condition and has been an excellent daily driver for me, and it could be for you as well.

Audi prepping a flex-fuel A3 for Latin America
Fri, Oct 16 2015Volkswagen's Audi division hasn't fared well from its parent company's diesel-emissions scandal, especially in the US and Europe. In South America, though, Audi is set to unveil its first vehicle of the flex-fuel variety, according to Nseavoice. Perhaps the German automaker can earn some good karma down in the Southern Hemisphere. The model is the 2016 Audi A3, which is made in Audi's Brazil factory. The engine is a 1.4-liter variety, and it will be able to run on either conventional gasoline or ethanol, or a blend of both. The decision makes sense because ethanol is plentiful in Brazil since the government has long pushed for it and there's plenty of sugar-cane feedstock to produce the stuff. Audi can use all of the positive news it can get, especially in the wake of VW's diesel-emissions scandal. As many as 11 million VW and Audi diesels may have been fitted with software that cheats emissions-testing systems. One result from the scandal's proverbial shrapnel is that the Audi A3 TDI diesel was stripped of its 2010 Green Car of the Year Award by Green Car Journal. The decision marks the first time in the award's history that a winner was stripped of the honor. VW has a long history offering flex-fuel vehicles in Brazil. In 2003, the German automaker was the first to debut a flex-fuel engine, and within two years, VW's Brazil factories were making 300,000 flex-fuel vehicles annually. Other companies have since jumped into Brazil's flex-fuel fray, including Nissan and Honda.
Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'
Tue, 02 Apr 2013From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?
2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD is our favorite oil-burning GTI
Tue, 05 Mar 2013
The 2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD has officially bowed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Engineers managed to squeeze an additional 14 horsepower and 22 pound-feet of torque out of the familiar 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, nudging total output to 184 hp and 280 lb-ft for 2014. The figures are good enough to earn the GTD the honor of being the most powerful diesel Golf in Volkswagen history. A start/stop system helps improve efficiency over the previous generation with the new model consuming 56 miles per gallon on the EU cycle. That's up from the 2013 model's 46 mpg. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, though a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also available.
The GTD also offers buyers a few aesthetic tweaks to help separate the hatch from its less potent siblings. Those include a more aggressive front fascia, special badges and 17-inch alloy wheels. Expect to find the GTD in one of three exterior colors, including Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. Check out the quick press release below for more details.
