Hi: I'm selling this for a friend of mine who needs to sell the 1967 Camper Bus to settle his Family's Estate. In Dry storage since 1992. 1967 Camper Bus. I don't know if it has Westfalia interior. There is no maker plate inside. I know that if you are looking for a VW Bus to restore, that finding one that is not all rusted out is hard to find. I'm not going to waste your time telling you how nice or rare these are becoming. Lets talk about the things you want to know. Rust.. Most of the pictures will be of the rusty spots. That is what you really want to know about. Rust bubbles at front bottom, front bumper area. Rust bubbles in middle at top front. The back deck lid has rust in the corners, and is locked and the key will not open it. Back corners has no rust, but has dents and some bondo on corner only.. Surface rust on floor in side door area. Surface rust bubbles on pass. side floor only. None of the rust has gone through the metal. Driver door spot welded at hinges. Driver door and pass. door not rusted out at bottom. Side doors not rusted out at bottom. Below side doors at bottom, not rusted out. Very little rust damage due to being parked 22 years ago. Straight sides and no body work or damage. Runs but needs a complete tune up. (first time started since 1992). The engine is not original. Serial number: AK062715. is a 1973 Engine with dual port heads. Brakes work but are stiff. Shifts in all forward gears and reverse. No noise in transmission. Radial tires about 50%. Original colour was Blue. Propane Heater. (not checked to see if it works). The only thing I see missing is the Jack. The Frig., and the bottom cover that fits in front over the brake and clutch area. Titled and license in May 2014. Tabs good until 2015. Cost-cutting measures put VW Beetle in jeopardy
Tue, Mar 10 2015Volkswagen is on a mission to cut costs. That means producing more models across its various brands based on the same platforms and powertrains, but the latest word from Germany has it that it will also mean cutting some of the VW brand's less successful models. First on the chopping block, according to German publication Der Spiegel, is the three-door version of the Polo, which will reportedly cede its place to the five-door version exclusively. The elimination of that model alone is said to save VW a good 200 million euros, putting it on its way towards reducing the brand's costs by a targeted five billion euros. The Polo isn't the only one in danger, though. The Eos, as we know, is not due to be replaced, but the future of the Beetle could be in jeopardy as well. The Beetle may be one of VW's most iconic models, but is hardly its most successful in terms of sales. With the 2014 annual report due to be released shortly, the last full-year sales figures had Volkswagen selling 109,517 Beetles in 2013. That may be more than four times the number of Scirocco models it sold, but hardly puts a dent in the 871,413 Jettas, 824,629 Golfs and 725,291 Polos it sold during the same year.
10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions
Thu, Aug 27 2015Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
Seat Leon Sport Cross concept leaks before Frankfurt debut
Mon, Sep 14 2015Seat's big Frankfurt Motor Show debut has been teased/leaked ahead of its official debut. The teasers are, of course, directly from Seat and show the new Leon Cross Sport Concept in a pair of sketches. You can check those out below. The leaked stuff, available up top, is far juicier, though. The shots originally came from AutoForum.cz, Auto Express reports, and look to be stock images of the three-door hatchback. In short, it looks like a Seat Leon, which is to say the MQB-based Spaniard is a more attractive Volkswagen Golf. In concept form, though, this new Leon is something of an anomaly. It wears the steroidal sheetmetal of the high-performance Cupra, especially with the large wheels and prominent quad exhausts, but its boosted ride gives it much more of a soft-roader character. Think of this, then, as a high-riding Golf GTI. It'll be a lot more potent than the beloved hot hatch, though. According to Auto Express, the Leon Cross Sport will use the Golf R's 296-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine and Haldex all-wheel-drive system. That should mean that there'll be some very real off-road performance behind the soft-roader looks. We'll have much more on the Cross Sport Concept when it makes its debut at Volkswagen's huge Group Night event later today. Stay tuned.
