1966 Volkswagen Bus 21 Window Deluxe Walk Through Samba, Very Rare on 2040-cars
Gardena, California, United States
This is an exciting opportunity to purchase the most beautifully restored and factory correct 21 window bus this year! I personally think it belongs in a museum. It's a rare California original, final year 1966 21 window Deluxe walk through Samba, that has just finished a long and meticulous 2 year nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. The goal of this particular restoration was to bring back as close as possible, a factory original Samba to be enjoyed just how they were made originally. All of the work was completed by the best and brightest VW guru's in Southern California. This is the most beautiful original Titian Red/ Beige Grey with OG mesh platinum interior bus out there. Some of the key highlights are: ~ All matching M code plates, Current California Registration and pink slip, Certificate of Authenticity from Germany showing the port of Los Angeles as the imported destination, Original Black and yellow license plate, All original glass, parts, frame, doors, locks etc., original T key that opens all locks including the ignition, original style white wall tires, Safari Windows, fully rebuilt sunroof kit, rebuilt original big nut transmission with reduction boxes, all original door handles and original front VW emblem re-chromed, Original steering wheel recast, New wire harness by Wireworks, rebuilt motor with original German case, new rubbers and seals throughout, Original year correct Sapphire III radio etc. All lights, buttons, clock lights, radio, and emergency switch work as they should! All doors and lids line up, open and close as good as they did the day they left the factory! ~ More Detailed Description:
This bus underwent a
true step by step restoration: 1. The bus was
disassembled completely 2. I had every part, panel and piece media and sand
blasted. 3. Replace and repair damaged or rusted metal (panels, floors
etc) 4.Paint inside and out including the suspension parts and underside of the
bus in original colors 5. Quality build up with original parts and glass or
original VW German replacement parts. 6. Used original seat and floor
upholstery 7. Fix the running gear properly, galvanized or zinc bolts, re-chrome
parts etc. 8. Rebuild the engine with German Core. 9. Rebuilt
transmission with original parts (reduction boxes etc) 10. Put it back together
and she lives again! A picture is worth a
1000 words, so I'll let the work speak for itself. Also, I have video
footage cataloging the whole restoration process so you know exactly what
we did (available to the final buyer). There is nothing hidden here and
you will know exactly what you’re getting which is rare in and of itself with
these buses! Serious buyers only!
I have a wife and children so please don't call unless you are a serious
bidder/buyer. Call me with any questions: (310) 245-7948 |

Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once - especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015.
The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well.
For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan - both long rumored to be on their way out - will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment.
Everybody's doing flying cars, so why aren't we soaring over traffic already?
Mon, Oct 1 2018"Where's my flying car?" has been the meme for impending technology that never materializes since before there were memes. And the trough of disillusionment for vehicles that can take to sky continues to nosedive, despite a nonstop fascination with flying cars and a recent rash of announcements about the technology, particularly from traditional automakers. Earlier this month, Toyota applied for an eye-popping patent for a flying car that has wheels with spring-loaded pop-out helicopter rotors. The patent filing says the wheels/rotors would be electrically powered, while in on-land mode the vehicle would have differential steering like tracked vehicles such as tanks and bulldozers. At an airshow in July, Aston Martin unveiled its Volante Vision Concept, an autonomous hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle it developed with Rolls-Royce. Aston says the Volante can fly at top speeds of around 200 mph and bills it as a luxury car for the skies. Audi used the Geneva Motor Show in March to unveil a flying car concept called the Pop.Up Next it developed with Airbus and Italdesign. If the Pop.Up Next, an electric and autonomous quadcopter/city car combo, gets stuck in traffic, an app can be used to summon an Airbus-developed drone to pick up the passenger compartment pod, leaving the chassis behind. Audi said that the Pop.Up Next is a "flexible on-demand concept that could open up mobility in the third dimension to people in cities." But Audi also acknowledged that at this point it has no plans to develop it. The cash-stoked, skies-the-limit Silicon Valley tech crowd is also bullish on flying cars. The startup Kitty Hawk that's backed by Google co-founder Larry Page announced in June that it's taking pre-orders for its single-seat electric Flyer that's powered by 10 propellers and is capable of vertical takeoffs and landings. The current version can only fly up to 20 mph and 10 feet in the air and has a flight time of just 12 to 20 minutes on a full charge. The Flyer is considered a recreational vehicle, so doesn't require a pilot's license. Uber says it plans to launch its more ambitious Elevate program and UberAIR service in 2023. "Uber customers will be able to push a button and get a flight on-demand with uberAIR in Dallas, Los Angeles and a third international market," Uber Elevate promises on its website.
Skoda Octavia vRS is just the thing for your pumped-up neighborhood
Fri, 26 Jul 2013Skoda, oh Skoda. You're just so cool. Maybe it's the fact that it's a brand that we don't get in these United States, but Skoda's rebadged Volkswagens, in particular the new Octavia vRS shown here, are just different enough from the hum-drum VWs on our shores that the Czech brand seems strangely desirable. Maybe we're just craving forbidden fruit.
This short, minute-long spot covers the new vRS in a world of excess, where strollers ride on 26-inch wheels, lawnmowers feature V8 engines and ice cream cones are the size of toddlers. As things often go in these ads, the Octavia vRS draws the eyes of passerby that are seemingly use to things far more ridiculous than a reasonably priced Czech sedan. In reality, the Octavia should be fairly familiar to American buyers. It uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot found in the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, with 217 horsepower, and sits on the same platform as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Take a look at the full spot, below.
