Tucson, Arizona, United States

Check out this beautiful rare 13 window Deluxe Bus!!

This is a fresh top of the line Glausurit paint respray!
It is an original 13 window Bus. It is an original Titian Red Bus, one of the Best colors on a Deluxe, hands down!
It is an original Arizona Bus with almost no rust at all!! All of the rocker panels, floors, wheel wells, etc are original. The only panel that has been replaced is the battery tray. Floors had spots and were patched.
The Bus is very straight.
The deluxe only trim is in excellent shape.
Engine is a 1600. It starts right up and runs well. Clutch is excellent. Brakes squeek but work well. Front end is tight but needs a replacement tie rod end. Transmission needs repair, it is a recent rebuild, but has a bad 3rd gear.
Wheels and bumpers are original and were repainted with Glausurit in original silver white. Wheels were sand blasted and epoxy primered, painted black with the correct original overspray into the backside like original!
All electrical works other than the clock and license plate light (which is missing, but power is there). Optima battery!
I have a freshly restored steering wheel from Koch's steering wheels that I haven't installed yet. It is beautiful!
I made an last order of parts for this Bus and they didn't send me all of the parts that I had ordered. The Bus is being sold as is, front door glass will need seals and installed.

This is a very rare 13 window. These are very popular right now as many people are making the $100+ 21 windows from them. A roof kit is $5000. It was my plan to build a 21 from this Bus, but I don't have time as I just started a new job in a different city and must move quickly!

The Bus is listed with a low reserve. Please ask any questions.
The Bus is available for viewing in downtown Tucson.
Payment MUST be made within 3 days of auctions end.
Bus must be picked up within one week.
Please take advantage of the low reserve and BID!!! You won't find another like it!
Thanks,
Christopher

Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.

VW looking to MAN up, ditch Mercedes van deal

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Unlike the US, the commercial truck market throughout the rest of the world is chocked full of competitors from many different automakers. Since 2006, Volkswagen has had a fullsize van called the Crafter that was a result of a partnership with Daimler AG and based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This partnership is supposed to last through 2016, but Reuters is reporting that VW might be looking to end its relationship with Daimler and create its own van in cooperation with German truck and bus maker MAN.
The article says that VW AG has more than a 75-percent stake in MAN, which would essentially be keeping the new commercial vehicle in-house. Even if VW bolts, Daimler still has a deal worked out in the commercial truck industry between its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Renault-Nissan to supply the other with different trucks.

Honda wins Commercial of the Decade, but not for the ad you think [w/VIDEO]

Honda's Commercial of the Decade: "Grrr" - Click above to watch video
The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...
