1960 Vw,bus, Model 215, Double Door,camper, Barn Stored Since 1989 on 2040-cars
Seabrook, New Hampshire, United States
Here is a 1960 VW, Bus Double Door Camper. It has been sitting in a barn since 1989 when it was parked because of a bad motor. I bought it from the Older guy that drove it from California in 89. He removed the motor way back then and never got to fixing it or doing anything with the bus. When I bought it the motor was still sitting next to it inside the barn. We loaded it inside before towing it out. The rear California Black plate & dealer plate surround are not included. The front plate & partial surround is included. This bus was manufactured Dec. 23rd of 1959. For a Jan 1960 delivery. It is a 215 model . There are camper windows installed , wood trim & paneling, some cabinet brackets & holes, Awning mounts on both sides of the roof, delivered Grey in color. All this leads to it being an aftermarket camper conversion, NOT a Westfalia Camper. The bus comes just as it is shown. It didn't have any camper interior when I got it. The previous owner says his Aunt & uncle had removed all the interior for more usable space as a van. The miles are 43268 on the odometer , The previous owner thinks they are correct. He acquired the bus from his aunt out on a Farm in California. The engine # that is inside the bus is D 1449943. The bus is really solid. There are only a few minor areas of rust to deal with. There was an area of the inside cargo floor that was rusted out and some critters made a home inside the belly pans. The critters urine & feces ate through a small area of the belly pan. I cut out the bad section of cargo floor to clean the nest & crap out of there. There is a picture showing this area. The battery tray area is bad, pic also. The pass side front floor section & a small area of the inside dogleg ( see pics). The drivers side rear panel from the cargo door lower hinge back to the rear corner has some dents & rust. I have tons of pictures but, I can only load 24. I have a few videos of me going along under the bus with a hammer hitting all over the place to show how solid it is. If you are seriously interested , get me your email and I'll send you all the additional pics & vids. This bus rolls easy, Parking brake works, tires hold air. You could be driving this with minimal work while you pick away at it or do a full resto. Sky's the limit.... This bus being a 215 Model Double Door Panel , MAKES it pretty rare. I don't really want to sell it but , I have way to many Other projects & vehicles and I wouldn't get to this for a long time. I think my reserve is very fair for this bus. If you are serious about making a Buy it Now offer , Then go ahead and shoot me a message. I AM WELL AWARE OF WHAT THE MARKET IS ON THESE VW's ! I have also had many vehicles come & go from all over the world. So, rest assured this would be a smooth transaction for you. I will be around for assistance, loading for transport. This is also being offered locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks for looking & good luck bidding !!!! NH DOESN'T title vehicles over 15 years old. This will come with a current reg. & a Bill of sale. You can verify this on the NH RMV website. I have sold many, many vehicles like this and There have been no issues for the buyers. |

German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe
Fri, Apr 22 2016Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation. Ferdinand Piech (1937-2019): The man who made VW global
Tue, Aug 27 2019Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piech, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology further than anyone else. Ferdinand Porsche had a son, Ferdinand (called "Ferry"), and a daughter, Louise, who married the Viennese lawyer Anton Piech. They gave birth to Ferdinand Piech, and his proximity to two Alfa Romeo sports cars — Porsche had done some work for the Italians — and the "Berlin-Rome-Berlin" race car, developed by Porsche himself, gave birth to Piech's interest in cars. After his teachers in Salzburg told his mother he was "too stupid" to attend school there, Piech, who was open about his dyslexia, was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. He subsequently moved on to Porsche, where he fixed issues with the 904 race car and did major work on the 911. But his greatest project was the Le Mans-winning 917 race car, developed at breathtaking financial cost. It annihilated the competition, but the family had had enough: Amid growing tension among the four cousins working at Porsche and Piech's uncle Ferry, the family decided to pull every family member, except for Ferry, out of their management positions. Piech started his own consultancy business, where he designed the famous five-cylinder diesel for Mercedes-Benz, but quickly moved on to Audi, first as an engineer and then as CEO, where he set out to transform the dull brand into a technology leader. Piech killed the Wankel engine and hammered out a number of ambitious and sophisticated technologies. Among them: The five-cylinder gasoline engine; Quattro all-wheel drive and Audi's fantastic rally successes; and turbocharging, developed with Fritz Indra, whom Piech recruited from Alpina. The Audi 100/200/5000 became the world's fastest production sedan, thanks to their superior aerodynamics. Piech also launched zinc-coated bodies for longevity — and gave diesel technology a decisive boost with the advent of the fast and ultra-efficient TDI engines. Less known: Piech also decided to put larger gas tanks into cars. Customers loved it. Piech's first-generation Audi V8 was met with derision by competitors; it was too obviously based on the 200/5000.
Volkswagen forced to sell stake in Suzuki
Mon, Aug 31 2015The six-year-long failed marriage between Volkswagen and Suzuki has finally come to an end. Almost. An arbitration panel in London issued its final verdict which, according to a VW press release, cleared Suzuki in terminating the agreement, so VW now needs to get rid of its 19.9-percent share. However, the tribunal's decision said VW performed all of its obligations and Suzuki didn't – the Japanese carmaker should have given VW last-call rights for a delivery of diesel engines, but failed to. The breach opens Suzuki up to damage claim, but so far VW only says it reserves the right to sue. Now that Suzuki has an outside investor to provide funds it meant to get from VW, perhaps both can get back to their reasons for being. The press release is below. Ruling in arbitration proceedings: Cooperation between Volkswagen and Suzuki deemed terminated - Arbitral tribunal confirms Volkswagen met contractual obligations and finds that Suzuki has ordinary right to terminate agreement based on reasonable notice - Volkswagen to dispose of its 19.9 percent stake in Suzuki and expects positive effect on Company's earnings and liquidity from transaction - Arbitrators also find that Suzuki breached its contractual obligations to Volkswagen under the agreement and that Volkswagen has right to claim damages Wolfsburg, 30 August 2015 - An arbitral tribunal in London has announced its ruling in the dispute between Suzuki Motor Corporation and Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft. As a result, cooperation between the two parties is deemed terminated. The arbitrators confirmed that Volkswagen met its contractual obligations under the cooperation agreement and found that Suzuki has terminated the agreement upon reasonable notice. Volkswagen will therefore now dispose of its 19.9 percent stake in Suzuki and expects a positive effect on the Company's earnings and liquidity from the transaction. The arbitral tribunal also confirmed that Suzuki breached its contractual obligations to Volkswagen under the agreement and that Volkswagen has the right to claim damages. "We welcome the clarity created by this ruling. The tribunal rejected Suzuki's claims of breach and found that Volkswagen met its contractual obligations under the cooperation agreement. Nevertheless, the arbitrators found that termination of the cooperation agreement by Suzuki on reasonable notice was valid, and that Volkswagen must dispose of the shares purchased.
