Vw New Beetle With Sunroof - Will Bring To You on 2040-cars
Delaware, Ohio, United States
I'll let the pictures tell the story for this snappy little VW bug. I have especially enjoyed the "panoramic" sunroof/moonroof, and I loved being able to fit my bicycle in there and also my lawn mower (and the ramp for getting it in and out). One of its best features is the "clean" Carfax report and the complete owner's manual that is still with it. The pictures of the insides of the doors show that there is no rust at all. I try to show the imperfections as well as possible: One will show that the "inner hubcap" is missing on the front left wheel. The picture with the back license plate is meant to show the dings that happened when my bike was put in without a blanket (they were touched up). Then there's a view of the whole back seat but then another meant to highlight a little square mark in that back seat leather. There's also about a 1-inch square mark you'll see behind the right rear wheel. There is also a scratch on the driver's side (touched up) and a few little stone pings on the hood. Tires have lots of goody left. Up until the gas gauge went out one of our very cold mornings a few weeks ago, I could say, "Everything works: Sunroof, heated seats, digital clock, outside thermometer, cruise control, power locks and windows, radio, power seats, excellent A/C and heat; but the gas gauge did stop working. Its other "quirks" are that a couple of the idiot lights are usually (but not always) on (the ABS and check engine; my mechanic assures me there is no problem, just a sensor). And one other thing it started doing on the cold mornings is within about 10 seconds of starting, it will give 3 "beeps" (like when the door is open with the engine running) and the thermometer light will flash on and off for a few minutes while you're driving. Here's what has been put into it recently: * New water tube, new water hose, and top off coolant; NEW FRONT BRAKE PADS AND NEW FRONT ROTORS for right and left sides (July 2013). * A new cable between the gas tank cover and the lever inside that opens it, as they had stopped "communicating." (July 2013) * New water pump, NEW TIMING BELT, new drive belt (October 2013). * NEW BATTERY (November 2013). * NEW IGNITION SWITCH (January 2014). * A new radio was installed; AM/FM works, but the CD does not work. However, it does have inputs for your MP3 player or USB, and the car itself has wonderful speakers. * I should say somewhere here that I only have 1 key. FOR 30 CENTS A MILE (FROM COLUMBUS, OH TO THE AIRPORT NEAREST YOUR HOME), I WILL DELIVER THIS VW ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES!! (I did this when I sold my RV on EBay, and it worked out beautifully. Obviously, I would need payment in full for the car and the mileage before heading out; and delivery would need to be scheduled mid-week (when airfare for my return home is about half what it is otherwise). Of course, if you'd rather pick it up here, I'd be happy to meet you at Port Columbus Airport. NO DOC FEE, NO ADMIN FEE, NO DEALER CHARGES . . .

German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe
Fri, Apr 22 2016Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation. VW, Suzuki mulling rekindling relationship in face of legal battle
Sat, 27 Jul 2013Volkswagen and Suzuki have been undergoing marriage counseling in a bid to avoid finalizing their nasty divorce. The blissful union has been troubled for some time, with Volkswagen claiming that it could affect operational decisions at Suzuki, and the Japanese brand's sniping and constant flirting with a certain Italian temptress causing rifts.
The matter first went to court in 2012, when Suzuki demanded VW get out, and leave its 19.9-percent stake in the Japanese brand in a box to the left. Now, Automotive News is reporting that the company will give the relationship one last shot, according to closed-door dealings between the two in London.
Still, it's understood that VW and Suzuki recognize the benefit of their alliance, and that it'd be in the best interests of the kids both parties to make things work. Spokespeople declined to comment to AN, but the newsmagazine spoke with Frank Biller, an analyst for LBBW in Stuttgart, who said, "Both companies stand to benefit if they can overcome the disagreements over leadership claims."
VW modular platform strategy goes all-in on EVs
Tue, Jan 7 2014The Volkswagen Group has already revealed or put on sale a broad slate of new electric vehicles: the E-up, the E-Golf (shown above), the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the XL1. In 2014, there will be at least six more models, including the A3 Sportback E-Tron. And after that? Well, to hear Rudolf Krebs, Group Commissioner For Electric Vehicle Drive Systems, tell it, VW's future is full of plug-in goodness. "With our platform strategy, it is quite easy to bring a lot of electrified vehicles to the market for the different brands in a very short time," he said. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars" That strategy starts with three platforms: MQB for small cars, MLB for midsize models and MSB for sporty and premium products (there's also the NSF for cars like the E-up). Speaking to AutoblogGreen, Krebs said VW has designed modules, things like engines and electric components (think: AC compressor, on-board chargers and battery management systems), to be used across all three platforms and across all brands all. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars," he said. "This is only possible if, at an early stage of the design of new vehicles, we implement the idea that these cars are not only designed for gasoline and diesel powertrains but that we can also include CNG concepts, flex-fuel concepts, pure electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles. With minor changes in the body in white, we can produce those vehicles, bumper-to-bumper, in one factory." "VW wants to be the leader in the electrification of vehicles" In this way, customers can choose the powertrain that they want, or whatever powertrain their local regulations demand. Politicians have already put a lot of pressure on the automotive industry, with ever-stricter CO2 regulations coming into effect in all of the major markets. In the US, the fuel economy regulation numbers require the equivalent of 101 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer by 2025. Europe, it's 95 grams by 2020. And China, which is asking for 118 grams by 2020, will be a tough scenario, Krebs said. Today, by optimizing conventional technologies and supporting things like CNG and biofuels, more than 300 VW Group models emit less than 120 g/km. A hundred of those are even under 100 g/km. But this is not sufficient, and VW admits that conventional powertrains will not be not enough.
