2006 Volkswagen Beetle TDI

This is a beautiful and well maintained one owner Volkswagen Beetle. It is in excellent condition inside and out. It is a “Package 2” which was the most highly optioned Beetle available in 2006. Features including heated leather seats (not leatherette often called leather) Moonroof, 17” wheels, premium Monsoon sound system, ESP, and much more.  This car is powered by the efficient and durable TDI turbo diesel engine mated to the desirable 6 Speed DSG automatic transmission.  The manufacturer MPG rating is 35 City, 42 Highway.  I have detailed records of the fuel mileage and total annual mpg was between 38 and 41 depending on the amount of highway driving.

History
This is a one owner car and has a clear and clean title history with no issues to report.  I planned to keep the car much longer but I got a job that comes with a company car and it just has not been driven and it does not make sense to keep.

Mechanical
This Beetle runs and drives like a new car. The tires are nice with about 5% tread left on rear tires and 80% on front. It is ready to drive anywhere.  This vehicle has always been maintained as scheduled by VW. Maintenance records since new will go with the car. It was taken to Jim Ellis VW 12/30/13 for a check-up and there are no issues whatsoever.

Exterior

This Beetle looks very nice and has never been wrecked. The Shadow blue paint is glossy and smooth. There are some stone chips on the nose of the car from highway driving but nothing that would detract from the overall excellent appearance of this car.  I would rate the exterior of this car a 9 out of 10.

Interior
The interior of this car very nice as well. The seats and carpet are clean with no stains or rips. There are no unusual or offensive odors and this car has never been smoked in. The car comes with Monster mats, both key/remote, one valet key, spare tire and tools, the owners manuals and original window sticker.  I would rate the interior a 9 out of 10.

This is the excellent gently used (not abused) car you have been waiting for.  NADA value is $10,325 retail and $7,675 trade in, this one should go for $10,000+.

Please ask any questions you would like 404.402.7570, I am willing to take the vehicle to be inspected at your expense if it makes you more comfortable bidding on the car.

German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate

Thu, Mar 21 2019

It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.

Volkswagen throws a Polo-palooza with four new or upgraded models

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen unveiled a parade of new and upgraded Polo models at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, including the Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo (pictured above). While they will likely never make an appearance this side of the pond, it is fun to see what European subcompact drivers will be driving later this year.
The new BlueMotion models represent the most efficient petrol and diesel options in their class, according to VW. The BlueMotion TDI offers just 73 horsepower from its diesel engine but gives the equivalent of 76 miles per gallon (US) in the EU test. The BlueMotion TSI brings a little more power with its 88-hp petrol engine and has a combined rating of 57 mpg (US) in the EU cycle.
The Polo BlueGT provides a balance of performance and economy, and for the 2014 model, it gains a 9-horsepower boost to its 1.4-liter turbocharged to give drivers 147 hp at the press of the accelerator. This year's car also has an optional Sport Select suspension with electronically controlled dampers to improve handling a bit. It's still fitted with active cylinder management to use as little gas as possible when cruising.

2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

More Fun Than A Prius, Less Sensible Than A TDI
Let's have some fun, and do some math. We're talking pretty rudimentary stuff, multiplication and division, to figure out if the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can make a baseline case for itself against two very strong competitors in this segment. The competitors in question, at least for now, are two more Jettas: the diesel-drinking TDI and the fit-for-the-masses SE with VW's long-serving 2.5-liter engine.
To keep the equations clean and simple (hey, we're writers), we'll calculate based on the most flattering EPA miles per gallon stat from highway driving for all cars, assume a healthy 20,000 miles driven per year, and factor in today's average cost for the respective fuels these three require: diesel (TDI), regular (SE) and premium (Hybrid). We'll also start with the base prices for all models.
