2002 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S Hatchback 2-door 1.8l on 2040-cars
Waltham, Massachusetts, United States
I have a 2002 New Beetle Turbo S. This is the ultimate sleeper, little to no rust. I am the third owner and it has about 103,0xx miles and counting. Only 5000 of these beetles were made in 2002 and they are special models. Comes with complete black/gray leather seats that are heated. A moonroof, power everything. The seats are made by Recaro and they also have lumbar support. There's also a top spoiler that retracts at 40mph.
I get about 35mpg because it is flashed with Revo stage 1 tune. I have also had a full 2.5" turbo back stainless steel exhaust system from Techtonics Tuning installed, so there is no rust whatsoever. I have also updated the diverter valve to a 007 Forge diverter valve to make sure the performance is at its best. I also have a cold air intake made by aFe which gives the car a blow off valve sound when shifting. But I also have the stock air intake if anyone wants to install it back. I also have a TyrolSport side mount inter-cooler. The oil is always changed at every 5,000 miles synthetic only and I always use 93+ octane for gas. Timing belt and water pump maintenance is on time, it was changed at 75k miles and next one will be at 120k miles. I also have history/paperwork about the car from the previous owners. Title is clean. I also have snow tires with steelies that come with the purchase. This is a great little bug but I have interest in another car. I am in no rush to sell my car but if there are any reasonable offers I will sell it. Make me an offer, worst I can say is no. Please give Sam a text/call at 5084056731 or email for any questions or more info. Thanks for looking. LEAVE A VOICEMAIL IF PHONE DOESN'T ANSWER. Otherwise will not return call. |

GM outsold VW globaly in first quarter, Toyota reports numbers next week
Thu, 18 Apr 2013General Motors released its first quarter sales figures this week, reporting that it sold 2.36 million cars and trucks worldwide. That figure represents an increase of 3.6 percent when compared to the same period last year. GM's growth was attributed to many factors, including global Cadillac sales that were up 26 percent and Chevrolet posting a one percent increase over last year (this marked Chevy's tenth straight year of record global sales).
Volkswagen came in just behind GM, as the German automaker reported global sales from January through March at 2.27 million vehicles, an increase of five percent when compared to last year. While that number was strong, VW is cautioning that markets outside China and the US, such as those in Europe, are becoming a challenge as economies falter.
Yet to report sales is Toyota, current holder of the global world sales crown (the Japanese company sold 9.75 million cars last year, against 9.29 million sold by GM and 9.1 million vehicles sold by VW). Even though GM and Toyota both say they don't care who sells the most units, it is unquestionably a strong bragging point and sales equate to revenue. That said, Toyota will report its first quarter numbers next week.
UAW Falls 87 Votes Short Of Major Victory In South
Sat, Feb 15 2014Just 87 votes at the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee separated the United Auto Workers union from what would have been its first successful organization of workers at a foreign automaker in the South. Instead of celebrating a potential watershed moment for labor politics in the region, UAW supporters were left crestfallen by the 712-626 vote against union representation in the election that ended Friday night. The result stunned many labor experts who expected a UAW win because Volkswagen tacitly endorsed the union and even allowed organizers into the Chattanooga factory to make sales pitches. The loss is a major setback for the UAW's effort to make inroads in the growing South, where foreign automakers have 14 assembly plants, eight built in the past decade, said Kristin Dziczek, director of the labor and industry group at the Center for Automotive Research, an industry think tank in Michigan. "If this was going to work anywhere, this is where it was going to work," she said of the Volkswagen vote. Organizing a Southern plant is so crucial to the union that UAW President Bob King told workers in a speech that the union has no long-term future without it. The loss means the union remains largely quarantined with the Detroit Three in the Midwest and Northeast. Many viewed VW as the union's best chance to gain a crucial foothold in the South because other automakers have not been as welcoming as Volkswagen. Labor interests make up half of the supervisory board at VW in Germany, and they questioned why the Chattanooga plant is the company's only major factory worldwide without formal worker representation. VW wanted a German-style "works council" in Chattanooga to give employees a say over working conditions. The company says U.S. law won't allow it without an independent union. In Chattanooga, the union faced stern opposition from Republican politicians who warned that a UAW victory would chase away other automakers who might come to the region. Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee was the most vocal opponent, saying that he was told that VW would soon announce plans to build a new SUV in Chattanooga if workers rejected the union. That was later denied by a VW executive, who said the union vote had no bearing on expansion decisions. Other state politicians threatened to cut off state incentives for the plant to expand if the union was approved.
Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?
Tue, 12 Feb 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.
