2002 Volkswagen Beetle Glx Hatchback 2-door 1.8l No Reserve on 2040-cars
Granby, Missouri, United States
You are viewing a Special Edition 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS with the concept “Double Mellow Yellow” paint and interior. These were a rare option in 2002 but they are still available every once in a while here on Ebay and other local websites. The interior is black and yellow “leather” with the turbo S style upgraded sport seats. The dash and door panels are also black and yellow……they aren’t like the normal GLS beetles that only came in grey or tan. The other way to pick out these “special” cars is the matching colorized wheel inserts. (yellow also) This Beetle has the 1.8 liter turbocharged engine with 119,500 miles which is considered low miles. The timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, coil packs, and idler pulley/slack adjuster were all changed out at 85,000 miles so it runs very well. It has the 5 speed transmission, AM/FM cassette / 6 CD changer, power moon roof, power windows, locks, 4 wheel disc brakes, and power steering. Up to 3 weeks ago it was one of our daily drivers and then my wife was “rear ended” and it has been sitting since. While waiting on the other drivers insurance, I bought my wife another car and so now we don’t need this one. It has light damage (insurance estimate $1500) on the rear near the hatch. The tail light is broken and the bumper cover is creased. (see pictures) I am including a used original rear bumper cover and an original rear tail light/marker lights in the sale. I stopped selling and fixing New Beetles two years ago and these are parts from some of my parts cars. My loss, your gain. The car is not perfect but it’s pretty nice for a 13 year old car and extremely fun to drive. The drivers door panel has a crack by the lock (my fault when changing out the window motor) and the back lower seat has a rip (there when I bought it) and my wife put black tape over it so it wouldn’t rip worse. Any other issues are just age……like me. LOL |

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
VW boss confirms Subaru-aping Golf Alltrack for US
Fri, Nov 21 2014Subaru needs to watch out, because the Japanese brand with a utilitarian image has a big bull's eye on its back. Not only is Acura considering going 100-percent all-wheel drive in a bid to mimic the successful automaker, Volkswagen has just confirmed that the Golf Alltrack is coming to the US as another competitor for Subaru's popular Outback crossover. Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn has confirmed the addition of the higher-riding, all-wheel drive version of the Golf SportWagen to Automotive News, indicating that the model will arrive in the US in 2016. "That's what our dealers, our customers, are asking us for," he said to the industry publication. The Golf Alltrack, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in early October, has an extra 0.75 inches of ride height and protective black cladding all the way around. Its biggest mechanical differentiator from other Golfs is its Haldex all-wheel drive system, a setup that can completely unhook from the rear axle when not needed to save fuel. In Europe, the Alltrack is available with a turbocharged 1.8-liter with 178 horsepower and two diesels offering between 109hp and 182 hp. However, Horn made no mention of likely powertrains for the US. Horn tells Automotive News that all-wheel drive tooling is currently being installed at the Puebla, Mexico, factory where the standard Golf Sportwagen is built. VW might have tipped its hand about this possibility several months ago when press shots of the wagon were released for the US with TDI and 4Motion badges. Horn says he expects even the front-wheel drive version to be a sales hit here, suggesting it may eventually account for 50 percent of the Golf range's volume.
Bentley considering diesel engine for new SUV
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Turns out, in case you didn't know, the rich are just like regular people. They too are concerned about the environment, even when tooling around town in their super-luxurious Bentleys. So the automaker is weighing the idea of offering a diesel engine in its SUV offering, which could help satisfy customers' demands for more fuel-efficient engines.
Chairman and CEO Wolfgang Schreiber told Autoblog in a roundtable interview at the Geneva Auto Show that the automaker is researching whether or not a diesel engine makes sense for the brand. Bentley, owned by the Volkswagen Group, could in theory use a diesel engine from anywhere in the Volkswagen Group family. We at Autoblog have hopes they'll revive the V10 TDI used in the VW Touareg until 2010, but ever-stricter emissions laws would likely make that problematic.
But rich people aren't so much like us that they'll be worried about petty things like pricing. Schreiber admitted the diesel engine could be a $15,000 option, which he said customers would probably find "acceptable." Given that the cheapest Bentley today starts at $177,000, typical customers probably won't be diddling around worrying about an extra 15 grand.
