THE ENGINE LIGHT IS CURRENTLY ON! the code that its popping is something like " secondary air flow insufficient ". Dont quote me, i may be a little off, autozone can tell you for sure, for free! My mechanic says its nothing to really worry about, it could be/ probably is something as simple as a air-line that's bent and wont let air pass, or has a snag or hole in it. ten dollar fix if i can ever get the time to get it in the shop to find it! problem is its my daily driver and i can not afford to take the time to let my mechanic have it for days to work on it (my favorite mechanics are slow...but amazingly VW Smart and trustworthy!) Passed my last emissions inspection by having the code reset, it takes almost 1000 miles to come back on, you can get an inspection after reset by about 100 miles! do the math, that's approx 900 miles of OKAY zone. I bought this car from a DEALER who KNEW this light as on, reset it, and sold it to me anyway. i didnt even get home without it coming on. Been driving it this whole time, it does not affect performance at all!
The 5-speed Turbo is quicker than you may think! same engine as the 2001 GTI's. it might be a typical girl car but its not as dainty as it looks.
You will be spoiled to the great gas millage and amazing horsepower combo!
Realistically Buying this car from the dealer in this area you would be doing well to get it for less than $5500 plus all the fees, KBB says it is worth $3799 from a dealer. but only 2800 private party. I'm not a dealer trying to make commission. Im not gonna lie about whats wrong with it and whats been done. But, I gotta make what I need to pay my loans off, so, that's why the price is what it is. I'm trying to break even here, but if to sell it means lowering the price i will. so contact me!!!
2001 Red VW Beetle Sport 1.8 20V Turbo
169,xxx miles
5 Speed Manual
Cream leather int. W/ heated seats, Cruise control, Tinted windows, power locks and windows, Sunroof, 6 CD player, Premium rims, radio w/ aux port, & pop-out spoiler.
Amazing gas millage! Internet says only about 25 but I have measured upward of thirty mpg.
I have done most of the general maintenance you will have to worry about with a car this age/ mileage. I replaced all the brakes and rotors feb. 2012 (shortly after I bought it), Two rear bushings in oct. 2012 and the alternator in April this year. The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 100,000 by previous owner. Whole A/C unit was replaced this time last year. Two back tires are less than a month old. Two front tires were rotated from the back at the same time and have barely any wear. I also have two more full size tires I bought on sale I can sell if you're interested. you can buy them from me and not have to worry about being stuck with a flat and having to pay some outrageous price to a shop, also in my experience most shops don't keep this size in stock so its good to be prepared.
I have the receipts for all of this work and some more, not all the oil changes because i did quite a few myself, but they have been done on a very regular basis!

Volkswagen E-Co-Motion Concept brings electric mobility to the commercial set
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Volkswagen sees a future where the bulk of the world's freight is moved into city centers by train, then offloaded onto a fleet of smaller, light-duty commercial vehicles for final delivery. Those vehicles could wind up looking something like the company's E-Co-Motion Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The EV features a modular underfloor drive unit comprised of a battery, motor and gearbox that can be paired with any number of cab and body configurations to suit a buyer's needs, from a refrigerated box to a standard flat bed.
The E-Co-Motion Concept features a rear-mounted electric motor with 113 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. A standard 20 kWh battery pack provides a driving range of up to 62 miles, while 30 kWh and 40 kWh packs could deliver 93 and 124 miles of travel, respectively. Check out the press release below for more information.
How VW's hyper-efficient XL1 will influence the next Golf
Mon, 18 Aug 2014In 2007, the European Union mandated fleet average CO2 emissions of 158.7 g/km. For 2015, that figure will drop to 130 g/km, and the target for 2020 is an ambitions 95 g/km. Thanks to some German politicking, that target will be phased in from 2020 to 2024, but it will still apply to 80 percent of passenger cars in that first year. In US miles per gallon, that's the equivalent of going from about 35 mpg to 42 mpg to 57 mpg. The current Volkswagen Golf is rated from 85 g/km of CO2 to 190 g/km depending on model - and zero for the e-Golf, so for the next-generation MkVIII hatch due in 2019, to meet the goal, Volkswagen engineers will need to introduce a bunch of new tricks. According to a report in Autocar, VW be mining its hyper-efficient XL1 for some of them.
Predictions for the next Golf include a variable-compression engine, an electric flywheel and an electric turbo, along with taking greater advantage of coasting. Volkswagen could be getting help from Audi with the electric turbo and variable-compression engine and electric turbo, with Audi already having shown off the former and brand technical boss Ulrich Hackenberg confirming the VW Group is working on the latter. It's possible the flywheel system could also have the mark of The Four Rings: Autocar mentions a British system that Volvo is testing, but the R18 e-tron Quattro racer has been using one for years.
The need for such features is because the company won't be able to net enough future gains from just aerodynamic improvements and advanced materials. As price will be a factor (the regulations are expected to "add hundreds of euros to the cost of building a car"), adding much more aluminum or carbon fiber is an unlikely option. We're told the next generation won't be longer or wider than the current car, and being Europe's most popular model, VW doesn't want to make a big bet on futuristic aero, but the report says the MkVIII will "likely" have "the most aerodynamic treatment yet seen on a production vehicle," the area where lessons learned from the XL1 will truly be seen.
VW announces reworked 6.0 W12 TSI engine
Mon, May 11 2015Nobody makes more engines with a dozen cylinders than the Volkswagen Group. They're W12s, of course, owing to the novel shape of their cylinder banks. Now the German industrial giant has announced a comprehensively reworked version of that engine at the same Vienna Motor Symposium where it presented its new 2.0-liter turbo four. The new W12 retains the same arrangement and the same 6.0-liter displacement, but updates it all with the latest powertrain tech. In place of Audi's FSI direct injection and Bentley's TMPI multi-point injection, the engine has adopted a new TSI system. It's also got a pair of new twin-scroll turbochargers, APS-coated cylinders, a new cooling system, active engine mounts, cylinder deactivation, and a stop/start system. And – crucially for application in the upcoming Bentayga – it has an oil circuit designed for off-road use. The revised package now produces 600 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Considerably more than the 567 hp and 516 lb-ft offered in the Bentley Continental GT W12, but less than the GT Speed, which we suspect will get an even more powerful version of this new engine. It's also more powerful than even the top version of Audi and Bentley's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, to make the W12 a more compelling option. Of course that's just as far as the Continental GT is concerned. The W12 has also found use in the Continental GTC and Flying Spur, as well as the Volkswagen Phaeton and Audi A8, and could find further applications under the Flying B emblem and elsewhere in the future. VW says that in the right application (say, in the production version of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, for example), the new twelve-pot could deliver 0-62 times of under four seconds and a top speed in excess of 186 miles per hour. Volkswagen at the 36th International Vienna Motor Symposium Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser: "The car of the future will continue to fascinate people" - CO2 reduction, electromobility and digitalisation are the greatest challenges facing the automotive industry - The future of the internal combustion engine will be characterised by high rpm diesel and high-performance three-cylinder TSI engines - Laser roughening – innovative coating process in large-scale production - New 6.0 W12 TSI with 447 kW (608 PS) – performance and refinement - New generation of EU6 TDI engines for light-duty vehicles Dr.
