Volkswagen : Super Beetle - Classic Convertible Karmann Model Fuel Injected on 2040-cars
Punta Gorda, Florida, United States
1979 Super Beetle Convertible Karmann Model with Fuel Injection beautiful condition with Owners Manual. Clear Title lists 2100 engine, exempt miles (odometer reads approx. 25,000). Title also lists vehicle as Orange (Mars Red is the actual color). Bought the car in Oct. 2011 from a dealer before it made it to the car lot; dealer had it brought to Florida, from Tennessee (original owner). New alternator, chrome bumpers, some other chrome parts, and master cylinder since I have owned it. It is a head turner and drives nicely. I have 2 others so I am letting this one go. Only serious bidders and ask any questions before bidding please. I also have this for sale locally and reserve the option to end this auction at any time. $500 deposit via Paypal due immediately upon end of auction. Cash payment for balance due within 7 days of end of auction. Vehicle pick up or shipping is the buyers responsibility. There is a slight chip in the windshield on the passenger side that has been there since I bought it which I treated with a sealer and has not spread; please see pictures. Top works in good shape no rips. Sold as is with no warranty so please again please ask any questions before bidding.
Just want to be clear about what I have stated above, the information that I have provided from the title is just that. I have no way to prove the actual mileage or engine size. The color is listed as orange but I got the Mars Red from a paint shop that did a electronic analysis of the paint. I do drive the car about once a week and keep it mostly in the garage but sometimes covered with a car cover on my lanai if I intended to use it again within a day or two. Remember to ask any questions before bidding. Thanks again for your interest. Reserve has been lowered! What an Awesome Christmas Present! Good Luck Bidding! |

Volkswagen throws a Polo-palooza with four new or upgraded models
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Volkswagen unveiled a parade of new and upgraded Polo models at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, including the Polo TSI BlueMotion, Polo TDI BlueMotion, Polo BlueGT and CrossPolo (pictured above). While they will likely never make an appearance this side of the pond, it is fun to see what European subcompact drivers will be driving later this year.
The new BlueMotion models represent the most efficient petrol and diesel options in their class, according to VW. The BlueMotion TDI offers just 73 horsepower from its diesel engine but gives the equivalent of 76 miles per gallon (US) in the EU test. The BlueMotion TSI brings a little more power with its 88-hp petrol engine and has a combined rating of 57 mpg (US) in the EU cycle.
The Polo BlueGT provides a balance of performance and economy, and for the 2014 model, it gains a 9-horsepower boost to its 1.4-liter turbocharged to give drivers 147 hp at the press of the accelerator. This year's car also has an optional Sport Select suspension with electronically controlled dampers to improve handling a bit. It's still fitted with active cylinder management to use as little gas as possible when cruising.
VW readying CC Shooting Brake?
Mon, 11 Feb 2013This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.
VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini
Fri, 14 Mar 2014It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
