THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION FOR AN INCREDIBLY WELL PRESERVED CLASSIC 79 BEETLE CONVERTIBLE. THIS CAR HAS 76K ORIGINAL MILES AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL KEPT  AND MAINTAINED ALL OF ITS LIFE. I AM PERSONALLY A HUGE VW FAN AND OWN MORE THAN 15 CLASSIC VOLKSWAGEN'S RIGHT NOW. I COLLECT ALL SORTS OF CLASSIC CARS AND DO WELCOME TRADES HOWEVER MY GOAL RIGHT NOW IS TO GET FROM OVER 70 VEHICLES IN MY COLLECTION DOWN TO ABOUT 35. I STILL LOVE CARS AND WILL LOOK AT ALL TRADES. MY PROBLEM IS I HAVE ABOUT 35 OF MY CARS THAT NEED TO BE RESTORED SO I AM SELLING COMPLETE CARS AND FIXING THE PROJECTS.

THIS 79 BEETLE HAS A BEAUTIFUL RED PAINT JOB THAT SHINES VERY BRIGHT AND REALLY STANDS OUT ON THE ROAD. THE BODY IS IN EXCEPTIONAL SHAPE AND IS FREE FROM ANY RUST DINGS OR DENTS. THERE IS ONE SMALL SPOT ON THE HOOD SMALLER THAN A DIME THAT LOOKS LIKE WHERE A CHIP WAS TOUCHED UP. I HAVE A QUOTE OF 410.00 TO REPAINT HOOD BUT I REALLY DO NOT THINK IT IS NECESSARY. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE NICE AS DOES THE HOOD AND TRUNK.

THE INTERIOR IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE AND I DO BELIEVE IT TO BE ORIGINAL FROM THE FACTORY THE SEATS ARE GREAT THE HEADLINER IS IN NICE SHAPE AND THE CONVERTIBLE TOP IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND OPENS AND CLOSES VERY EASILY.

THE BEETLE RUNS AND DRIVES BEAUTIFUL AND HAS RECENTLY BEEN TUNED BY CARL FOWLER A 25 YEAR AIR COOLED VOLKSWAGEN SPECIALIST. THE MOTOR STARTS RIGHT UP AND IDLES NICE. THE VEHICLE DOES NEED TO WARM UP IN THE MORNING PRIOR TO DRIVING. ALL AIR-COOLED VW'S SHOULD BE RAN AT IDLE FOR 2 MINUTES PRIOR TO DRIVING THEM IN THE MORNINGS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS BUT IT IS SUGGESTED BY VOLKSWAGEN THAT YOU DO THIS. THE CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION WORK PERFECT, THE TIRES ARE IN NICE SHAPE AND GO DOWN THE ROAD QUITE SMOOTH. 

CARL DID SUGGEST NEW FRONT SHOCKS AND BRAKES WITH A QUOTE OF 400.00 INSTALLED, HE DID NOT DEEM IT MANDATORY BUT ASID IT SHOULD BE DONE IN THE NEXT FEW THOUSAND MILES.

This month of Editors' Picks saw us award the honor to a couple of redesigned stalwarts like the Honda Civic and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Plus, a new crossover that splits the difference between the compact and subcompact class takes home the prize. On top of this, we'll introduce you to a new term: midcompact. We'll be using this to describe those in-between crossovers that are a tad too small to be considered compact, but too large to neatly fit into the subcompact class. For a few examples of these "midcompact" cars, we'll point you to the Ford Bronco Sport, Kia Seltos and VW Seltos. Volkswagen's new Passat Alltrack ready to scale the Alps

Volvo may be stepping up its off-roading game with a greater variety of Cross Country models tumbling out the factory in Gothenburg, but the other (larger) European automaker whose name starts with the letters V-O-L is also broadening and updating its range of road-going automobiles equipped to handle a little soft-road duty. Aside from Audi's Allroad line, Skoda's Scout models and the new Seat Leon X-Perience, the Volkswagen brand itself has recently showcased Alltrack versions of the Golf, Multivan and of course the Passat. And now it's announced a new version of the latter for the European market. Based on the Euro-spec Passat Variant, the new VW Passat Alltrack follows a familiar formula: take a station wagon, equip it with all-wheel drive, jack up the suspension, add some lower body cladding and some new trim and – voila! – you've got a pseudo rough-roader on your hands. Set to debut in just a couple of weeks from now at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new Passat Alltrack is visually distinguished by its new bumpers, underbody protection, beefed-up wheel arch moldings and a ride height increased by over an inch to the benefit of ground clearance as well as approach and departure angles. European buyers who like to leave the road every once in a while (or give the impression that they do) will be able to choose from a range of five engines: two burning gasoline with either 148 horsepower or 217, and three diesels available in 148-, 187- or 237-hp states of tune. The base TSI and TDI engines are mated to a six-speed manual, while the top three are hooked up to a six-speed DCT, but they all come with 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard. All but the base TSI model boast a towing capacity of 1,800 kg, enhanced by a Trailer Assist system that automatically lines the vehicle up to a trailer. It even comes equipped with an off-road mode that incorporates Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Assist to make any journey across the Alps a breeze. VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
