It has always been a weekend driver, never used every day. New coral red paint about three years ago, it's very straight and shiny.  The interior is in great condition; the seats have lots of padding, slight wear on the side of the driver's seat.  The convertible top is in excellent condition with no rips or tears anywhere.  The headliner has a professionally installed patch. Top boot is included. New remote-control Sony sound system, Bluetooth and Sirius satellite compatible.  Brand new 60 series tires substantially improve the handling.  No Super Beetle shimmy or shake!  Runs and drives excellent, has just received a full tune-up.  A very nice car that you will be delighted to own!  Take it to your local "Bug" show and be proud.  Or really enjoy life and drive it every day!  What else can you drive with the history and reliability of a Volkswagen?!  I have owned and driven these cars for over 40 years now and I can tell you that this is a very nice one -- a true "keeper".  A lot of people restore these cars and some do a good job.  But here is a car that doesn't need restoring!  It has always been kept in good condition.  Beetle Convertibles have been going up in value since the "New Beetle" Convertible came out and are sure to steadily increase in value. Whether you buy this car for an investment or just for fun you can't go wrong.  NO RESERVE AUCTION!!  This means someone will get this great little car.  Available for inspection any time during the auction by appointment. VW investigating Golf water leak discovered by car magazine

Sat, 07 Sep 2013

Volkswagen is in a spat with German magazine Auto Bild over claims that its new, seventh-generation Golf may already need a recall. The German weekly reports that new Golfs can leak water into front-passenger footwells due to a faulty drainage tube in their air conditioning systems.
And while the fix itself doesn't sound too terrible, because Volkswagen bases so many cars off the same platform as the Golf, Auto Bild is claiming that 300,000 models could be affected, including the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. That's a very bold claim. For its part, VW is vehemently denying that number, according to Reuters, saying it's aware of the problem and claiming only 46 Golfs need fixing. In addition, it denies that any Audi or Seat models are affected by the issue.
Either way, regardless of how pervasive this leak issue is, North American buyers should rest easy knowing that the problems ought to get fixed by the time the Mk VII Golf finaly reaches our dealerships.

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?

Volkswagen looking to acquire Proton, Lotus?

Thu, 26 Jul 2012

Let's say you're an automaker bent on world domination looking to grow your sales. That's going to have you looking at Asian markets, because that's where some of the biggest growth has been, and that's exactly what Volkswagen is doing as it considers making another run at Malaysia's Proton.
Reuters reports that Volkswagen is interested in at least a partial stake, if not a controlling interest in Lotus-parent Proton as a way to continue a production presence in the region without having to build its own factory.
Volkswagen already builds the Passat in a DRB-HICOM facility in Pekan, Malaysia, and plans are in place to build the Jetta and Polo there, as well. With both southeast Asia and its relationship with Proton figuring so importantly in Volkswagen's plans for expansion, buying into Proton can help ensure stability. Volkswagen is being tight-lipped about the whole idea, but CEO Martin Winterkorn did recently say, "it's our clear goal to continue the successful (expansion) course of past years with great dynamics and stability," which sounds an awful lot like deals are on the table to smooth the path to further growth.
