EQUIPPED WITH A VIPER ALARM AND REMOTE START! This beautiful 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle GL is now available for you to buy! Don’t miss your chance to own a good looking, solid Beetle convertible. I personally drove this vehicle for over an hour just to make sure the motor and transmission is solid with no issues. INTERIOR: The remote start works at just the press of a button. The original key fob also works with the alarm remote. The black leather interior is all in great shape. The manual top is very easy to put up and down. The aftermarket Kenwood radio sounds great and there is an auxiliary port so you can listen to any device. The heat works great and the a/c is cold. ALL OF THE WINDOWS WORK, and so does everything else! There are no indications of any leaks and there are no odors in this stylish Beetle! EXTERIOR: The body is in good shape. It looks as if the car was garage kept. The top has no signs of dry rot and the seams are all in great shape. There are a few things that are hard to notice, there is a flaw on the rear driver side bumper. The clear coat in that area has some issues as if it was bumped up against. The front bumper has minor issues on the very bottom, probably caused from scraping. This can be fixed professionally for a few hundred dollars if you wanted it perfect. Other than a few flaws that are hard to notice, this is a great vehicle. The tires have plenty of tread left on them. MOTOR/HANDLING: The Beetle starts right up and idles with no issues or sounds. The car goes right into gear with no jerking. The acceleration is very responsive and the brakes work great at any speed with no wobble or vibration. The transmission shifts through every gear with no hesitation, every time. I drove over an hour just to make sure there was nothing wrong. The downshifting is also smooth and responsive. The suspension feels great and it does a great job absorbing all the imperfections and making a quiet ride. The powered steering makes tight turns very easy and it is also smooth. There isn’t any pinging when making very tight turns. This vehicle feels very reliable and I would drive it anywhere, any distance. The airbag light is the only issue. Volkswagen is notorious for this. Almost every time the light is on because of a bad connection with a sensor, and usually the sensor is bad. The sensor is under $100 and the labor is very cheap. We can have it looked into and fixed for you prior to delivery, if you were interested. This is one of the few solid Volkswagen Beetles for sale. This generation of the Volkswagen Beetle is notorious for having issues with the transmission and windows not working properly etc. I wanted to be sure this one was defect free! A car is as good as its owner. The previous owner obviously cared for this Beetle and maintained it very well. There are receipts/records in the glove box. The radio, alarm, and receipts are all good signs of pride in the vehicle, and that shows that maintenance was performed regularly.
NADA.com appraises this vehicle for $6,625 at suggested retail. The reserve is set nowhere near that. If you are interested in this vehicle and would like to ‘BUY IT NOW’ please feel free to contact me. Thank you so much for looking and good luck with the bidding. -Daryl

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
VW, Rivian, Nissan, BMW, Genesis, Audi and Volvo lose EV tax credits starting tomorrow
Mon, Apr 17 2023The U.S. Treasury said Monday that Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan, Rivian, Hyundai and Volvo electric vehicles will lose access to a $7,500 tax credit under new battery sourcing rules. The Treasury said the new requirements effective Tuesday will also cut by half credits for the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive to $3,750 but other Tesla models will retain the full $7,500 credit. Vehicles losing credits Tuesday are the BMW 330e, BMW X5 xDrive45e, Genesis Electrified GV70, Nissan Leaf , Rivian R1S and R1T, Volkswagen ID.4 as well as the plug-in hybrid electric Audi Q5 TFSI e Quattro and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) electric Volvo S60. The Swedish carmaker is 82%-owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The rules are aimed at weaning the United States off dependence on China for EV battery supply chains and are part of President Joe Biden's effort to make 50% of U.S. new vehicle sales by 2030 EVs or PHEVs. Hyundai said in a statement it was committed to its long-range EV plans and that it "will utilize key provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act to accelerate the transition to electrification." Rivian declined to comment and the other automakers could not immediately be reached for comment. Treasury also disclosed General Motors electric Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV will qualify for the full $7,500 tax credit. GM said earlier it expected at least some of its EVS would qualify for the $7,500 tax credit under the new rules, including the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq and forthcoming Chevrolet Equinox EV SUV and Blazer EV SUV. Treasury said all GM EVs will qualify. Earlier, Ford Motor and Chrysler-parent Stellantis said most of their electric and PHEV models would see tax credits halved to $3,750 on April 18. Treasury confirmed the automakers' calculations. The rules were announced last month and mandated by Congress in August as part of the $430 billion Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA requires 50% of the value of battery components be produced or assembled in North America to qualify for $3,750, and 40% of the value of critical minerals sourced from the United States or a free trade partner for a $3,750 credit. The law required vehicles to be assembled in North America to qualify for any tax credits, which in August eliminated nearly 70% of eligible models and on Jan. 1 new price caps and limits on buyers income took effect.
VW recognizes second union at Chattanooga plant
Wed, Feb 18 2015The ongoing story of organizing workers at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. Following an independent audit, the automaker has now recognized a second union at the plant called the American Council of Employees. The group was founded there last year to offer an alternative to the United Auto Workers. "I'm not anti-union. I understand that a properly run union can benefit people. We will be that union," Sean Moss, president of the ACE, said to Reuters, according to Automotive News. The group claims to represent at least 15 percent of the workers at the plant. Acceptance of the ACE has led to an interesting situation in Chattanooga because VW also recognized the UAW at the factory in December 2014, and the group has claimed to represent at least 45 percent of workers there. According to Automotive News, each union has access to management, but the UAW has more because of its larger contingent of supporters. However, neither organization has a collective bargaining agreement with the automaker. Moss may have a rough time increasing support among employees at the factory. According to Automotive News, many anti-UAW workers there are completely against unions in general. Getting these folks to join his group isn't an easy task. The UAW has been working to fully represent the VW factory for years. However, the group lost a vote to do so in 2014. It eventually created a union local there to try to build support. All of the effort comes ahead of a $900 million plant expansion to add about 2,000 jobs and build a new crossover in Tennessee.
