This 1979 VW Super Beetle Karmann Convertible (built 03/1979) is being offered with a low reserve. It is a low mileage car (59,084) that spent most of its’ life towed behind a motor home. It still has the tow hitch attached to the front cross member. The body and floor pan are solid and rust free. Vehicle was rustproofed when new (Rusty Jones rustproof) and has held up very well. Color is # K6V – River Blue Metallic.

This vehicle is in excellent condition, and maintains its fuel injection system. It starts fine and runs beautifully. The interior is in great condition with no tears in the upholstery. A new rubber floor pad has been installed and carpeted floor mats are in place. Clutch is good and the brakes and suspension have been freshened. All electronics work and the heater / blower are functional. Please see the list below of the reconditioning done to the car. The original convertible top is in good shape but the headliner may need attention. This vehicle needs minor tweaks to make it perfect. The car accelerates  fine , handles great, and brakes well. You will not be disappointed with this vehicle.

The 1979 Super Beetle Convertible is the last VW type 1 sold in the USA and has become very collectible. There were 10,681 built for worldwide consumption. The average retail has been around $14,000. The reserve for this auction is lower than average retail. Please review the attached (24) photos and bid if you wish to own a fine collectible vintage VW. Thank you for your consideration.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

Wed, 22 May 2013

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.

VW readying new VR6 with forced induction

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Volkswagen built a stonking, narrow-angle V6 in the 1980s and 1990s that was found in three different generations of the Golf (their performance iterations, obviously), three generations of the Passat, the New Beetle, the Corrado and the Touareg, among other VWs, a spate of Audis, Seats, a Skoda, and even the Porsche Cayenne. It was a sad day when it was announced that it'd be put out to pasture.
Rejoice, though, fans of the venerable VR6, because Volkswagen has a new, modern variant in the works that, according to AutoWeek, features direct injection and can easily be fitted with forced induction. In fact, AW mentions Volkswagen insiders that claim this unit will spawn a production version of the twin-turbo V6 shown on the Design Vision GTI from this year's Wörthersee festival. That unit produced an epic 503 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque.
Don't expect a production unit with that level of power (although it would make a hardy RS4 powerplant), though. In reality, AutoWeek is suspecting anywhere from 340 to 450 horsepower from the new mill. When it arrives at an undisclosed date in the future, it'll likely be found in the Passat and Passat CC as well as the production version of the CrossBlue.

VW launches special edition Touareg X

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

Volkswagen is no stranger to special editions, but its Touareg SUV has remained largely unspecial in terms of exclusive trims or unique packages. That's changed with the announcement of the Touareg X, a 1,000-unit run based on the V6 TDI Lux trim - mid-range diesel model, between the navigation-equipped TDI Sport and the TDI R-Line.
The already special Touareg gets 19-inch "Moab" wheels, LED taillights (to go along with its LED DRLs) and "Touareg X" badging, while all 1,000 units will be painted Moonlight Blue Pearl. Tweaks in the cabin are equally light, with a black-on-black-on-black color scheme dominating - black Vienna leather, a black headliner and piano black trim. Aluminum bits make an appearance in the form of the door sills and pedals, although that's about it.
Other than those few aesthetic tweaks, the Touareg X is equipped largely like the Touareg Lux on which it's based. That means navigation, a panoramic sunroof, power seats, LED running lights, dual-zone air conditioning and heated power seats, among other tech pieces. Pricing starts at $56,170, making for a slight bump of $1,195 over the standard Touareg Lux.
