This car is in excellent condition in all regards. It was manufactured in December, 1979- the end of an era for VW! I bought this car last year from San Francisco and have had it restored to immaculate condition. The following are the features:
Exterior- New top, pad, headliner and seals on top frame and around windows. New paint and clear coat in original River Blue Metallic color. New chrome trim. New German running boards and gravel guards. Newly powder coated wheels and brand new tires. Original German glass all around as well as tail lights and running lights. Original German chrome bumpers and guards. This car has no rust, have never been in an accident, and has rust free floor pans.
Interior- New seat covers, new carpeting, excellent original door panels, 80 watt stereo cassette, original CA visors, window chrome perfect, all seals and plugs, glove box with original key and lock (rare). 1 inch crack on dash has been repaired.
Mechanical- Totally rebuilt fuel-injected engine with current CA emissions compliant equipment (new lines, filters, catalytic converter, etc.), new brakes (drums, shoes, lines, master cylinder), new clutch, new struts and shocks, tie rods, bushings, aligned (no shimmy or imbalance whatsoever), new ball joints, and more.
Electrical- all switches and gauges work- the original clock still keeps correct time!
Other- all records of maintenance since car was NEW, original owners manual and booklets, original convertible top boot, owner history, clear NC title.
There is nothing left to do to this car but drive it.
This car is valued over $20k (see info at hagerty.com) due to it's condition and low original mileage.

10 best new car deals in late September 2021
Wed, Sep 29 2021New car sales were drastically affected in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but things started to show signs of recovery toward the end of the year before really coming on strong in the early months of 2021. Now there's an ongoing shortage of microchips causing a great deal of pricing fluctuation and a limited supply of certain vehicles. That doesn't mean there aren't still great deals on new cars, though. Using data provided by TrueCar, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best automotive deals for September 2021. WeÂ’ve noted the original MSRP, the average transaction price, and the total savings in both dollars and as a percentage of the original sticker price. Basically, weÂ’ve done all the hard work for you! So now, all you need to do is compare deals, go on a few test drives, and maybe drive away in a great car (and an even better bargain).
Volkswagen's 261-mpg hand-built XL1 headed for Geneva
Thu, 21 Feb 2013After years of rumors, development and testing, the Volkswagen XL1 is finally about to become a reality. The project that began life as a daring 1-Liter concept car in 2002, will finally get its production-ready curtain call at the Geneva Motor Show in just a few weeks.
As soon as it hits the streets, the two-seat XL1 will instantly become the most fuel-efficient and most aerodynamic production car in the world. The car uses a plug-in hybrid system to achieve mind-blowing consumption of just 0.9 liters of diesel fuel consumed every 100 kilometers (and average of roughly 261 miles per gallon). Plus, the XL1 can go up to 50 kilometers on its battery power alone. Coefficient of drag is a miniscule 0.189, thanks to a tiny frontal area and an obviously slippery shape.
XL1 power comes from a two-cylinder diesel motor connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 20 kW electric motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery. Both combine to give the XL1 performance figures that are, while not stirring, not shabby considering its extreme frugality: 0-62 miles per hour comes up in 12.7 seconds and top speed is nearly 146 mph.
Watch the VW E-Golf get made
Fri, Jun 13 2014If you've ever been on a tour of an automotive factory, you know how mesmerizing it can be to see humans and robots work together to build our four-wheeled friends. The swift automation, the cleanliness, the trained hands deftly fitting pieces together and watchful eyes inspecting every piece of the car, it's all quite impressive, especially if the vehicle is one you, as an observer, are fond of. Even just seeing a fresh, gleaming badge being applied to immaculately painted sheet metal is enough to curl ones toes. Such is the case with this video from of the E-Golf being pieced together in the Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant. There's no narration or music - just the sounds of production - so it's easy to follow the singular motions that go into the process without distraction, with a slight sense of actually being on the floor. This solo video is only seven minutes long, so it's not quite the epic that was the BMW i3 production series. Therefore, we miss a lot of the initial build, such as pressing the sheet metal, painting, and putting together a lot of the inner workings. What is refreshing to see is how much of the final touches of the electric Golf are done by hand using actual hand tools (and with typical German efficiency). There's even a person riding a bicycle through the factory at one point, which is common at Wolfsburg and also rather quaint. Enjoy the video below, and if you have a suggestion for a good soundtrack to go along with it, sound off in the comments. This content is hosted by a third party.
