Here is my 1979 VW Super Beetle Convertible. It is a new resto-custom with no expense spared. Very hot completely rebuild engine, new trans, disc brake conversion, lowering springs and struts, empi 8-spoke wheels, Sew Fine interior (complete with all carpets, brand new seats instead of covers, new door panels, visors, hand grabs, seat belts-everything!), Stay-Fast fabric top, PPG 3 stage pearl clearcoat paint with ghost flames. Also has numerous body mods including a filled radio antenna hole, modified rear exhaust pan, filled front turn signals, rear 37 Ford teardrop tail lights and custom bumpers. This was a complete tear-down and rebuild of a very solid Las Vegas car. It had very minimal rust to begin with, everything welded and primed and then rust/sound proofed before paint. All professionally done, everything highest quality. I also have some parts that will go with the car, not sure what all is there, but if it is VW it goes! This car needs the following: door panels and window crank handles installed (included), radio installed (included), front turnsignals mounted and installed (motor cycle type very small ones are what I was planning on, they are included also or you an do your own thing), and a front end alignment (all front suspension parts are new and my shop's alignment rack was out of service when the car was there). This car is now and has always been garaged. It is currently in N. Alabama. I will assist in shipment or it can be driven, all costs and risks are the responsibility of the buyer. Payment is to be a cashier's check or wire transfer within 7 days of auction close. NO PAYPAL. as in none, never again. Don't even ask. If you must use paypal, please do not bid. If you have any other questions or need anything, please email. Thanks and good luck!!!

Volkswagen E-Co-Motion Concept brings electric mobility to the commercial set
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Volkswagen sees a future where the bulk of the world's freight is moved into city centers by train, then offloaded onto a fleet of smaller, light-duty commercial vehicles for final delivery. Those vehicles could wind up looking something like the company's E-Co-Motion Concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The EV features a modular underfloor drive unit comprised of a battery, motor and gearbox that can be paired with any number of cab and body configurations to suit a buyer's needs, from a refrigerated box to a standard flat bed.
The E-Co-Motion Concept features a rear-mounted electric motor with 113 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. A standard 20 kWh battery pack provides a driving range of up to 62 miles, while 30 kWh and 40 kWh packs could deliver 93 and 124 miles of travel, respectively. Check out the press release below for more information.
Tesla tires turning on Stretchla Vanagon EV conversion project
Tue, Jan 7 2014It is one thing to say you are going to Frankenstein a Tesla Model S with a pair of Siamese-twinned Volkswagen Vanagons and quite another to actually start taking your newly-acquired, smashed-up electric sedan apart in an effort to bring it back to life. Otmar Ebenhoech is doing just that, and having no small successes along the way. The Stretchla project, as it is being called, has officially started and our protagonist has put together another bit of video to document his progress and let us know about some of the different challenges he's encountered and conquered. While our original post about this endeavor featured video of the stretched Vanagon's drivetrain removal, this latest installment focuses on the Model S. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition and has been tackling some of the basic problems one might expect to encounter: lots of error messages and an electrically disconnected battery pack. Without the aid of a manual or technical diagrams, he's removed the battery pack and discovered why it wasn't sending power to the car. Scroll below to watch the ten-minute presentation and celebrate some initial victories. You can also check out the official Stretchla blog for more photos and updates, including the most recent one that discusses how he talked himself into paying (*spoiler alert) $42,000 for a wrecked, non-functional electric car, along with more recent struggles with the steering rack. Hit us up in the comments to let us know what kind of trouble you would get into with a Model S drivetrain of your own. This content is hosted by a third party.
