I found this car in a shed in South Georgia.  It has been setting for several years.  The owner said it was running when he drove it in, but smoked a bit.  I have not tried to see if it will turn over.  I'm selling it as is, so I'm not going to check to see if it does or not, that way I don't have to tell a story.  I can honestly say I don't know.  It has a decent body and a good pan on both sides. There are two rust through holes in the body between the rear window and the rear quarter window.  Appears like the shed may have had a hole in it on that side.  Who ever reprinted this thing didn't have a clue how to paint, so a paint job is needed. The left front fender has had a lick at some point in time.  The hood has two small dents that takes a second look to see.  This car show no signs of crash damage, front or rear. There is a small hole about the size of a lemon in the battery tray.  The heater tubes are fine also. The dash is unmolested and looks fine.  This car came with dealer installed AC, but some time along the way the compressor was removed.  The fuel injection was replaced with a carb also. It will need a front bumper and tires.  One goes flat as quick as air is added so it will have to be trailered.  This thing is a 1977 Standard Beetle.  The seats are passable but the head liner is bad.  Floor mats are good also.  The doors are good and tight. The windows are good.  The odometer is showing 35K miles, but it has surely turned over.  I have tried to give a honest description of this car. If someone is going to restore a beetle this is a great start.  It will make a nice car . I have it listed locally so I will pull this adv. should it be sold.

It has a $1200 dollar Reserve.    Any questions, feel free to ask.  Owen  850.556.0199

One of these pictures shows the driver side door panel with mildew.  I show the same panel after it was cleaned off.

VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

Child cobalt miners: Automakers pledge ethical minerals sourcing for EVs

Wed, Nov 29 2017

BERLIN - Leading carmakers including Volkswagen and Toyota pledged on Wednesday to uphold ethical and socially responsible standards in their purchases of minerals for an expected boom in electric vehicle production. Demand for minerals such as cobalt, graphite and lithium is forecast to soar in the coming years as governments crack down on vehicle pollution and carmakers step up their investments in electric models. To cover its plans for more than 80 new models by 2025, Volkswagen alone is looking for partners in China, Europe and North America to provide battery cells and related technology worth more than 50 billion euros ($59 billion). Talks with major cobalt producers, including Glencore, at VW's Wolfsburg headquarters last week ended without a deal. More than half of the world's cobalt comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country racked by political instability and legal opacity, and where child labor is used in mines. On Wednesday, a group of 10 leading passenger-car and truck manufacturers announced an initiative to jointly identify and address ethical, environmental, human and labor rights issues in raw materials sourcing. The partnership dubbed "Drive Sustainability" consists of VW, Toyota Motor Europe, Ford, Daimler, BMW, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars and truckmakers Scania and Volvo. The alliance "will assess the risks posed by the top raw materials (such as mica, cobalt, rubber and leather) in the automotive sector," said Stefan Crets of the CSR Europe business network. "This will allow Drive Sustainability to identify the most impactful activities to pursue" to address issues within the supply chain.Reporting by Andreas Cremer.Related Video: Image Credit: Michael Robinson Chavez/The Washington Post via Getty Images Green BMW Ford Honda Jaguar Land Rover Mercedes-Benz Automakers Toyota Volkswagen Volvo Green Automakers Green Culture Electric Scania ethics mining
