1976 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible on 2040-cars
Tacoma, Washington, United States
Up for sale is a 1976 Volkswagen Beetle convertible! I am helping a friend sell his car. He has owned the car for six years. It was purchased as a fun car for his wife and has seen limited use. It is showing 62103 miles on the odometer at this time. It is unknown if the odometer has rolled over or not.
The car was painted seven years ago by the previous owner. The paint shows pretty well but here are two major runs on the front hood down by the hood handle as shown in the pictures. These are the only real flaws in the paint and it has held up well over time. The color is a little off of the original sonnengalb L13K paint code but is still a nice bright yellow. The sides are painted two tone white. The door jambs are painted to match the exterior of the car. The trunk and engine compartment remain in the original color and look very nice. There is no rust in the trunk, engine compartment or interior floorboards. The car itself is largely rust free with only surface rust on the outside of the floorpan underneath from the car being driven. The car is very straight with no body damage or dents. One fender was replaced prior to the paint job but it is hard to tell without disassembling the car. The engine is the stock unit and retains the stock fuel injection. The car runs and drives very nice and there are no mechanical issues. The fuel tank was recently replaced with a new one. The car retains the stock wheels and hubcaps in good condition. The tires have good tread but are starting to crack with time. All doors and windows work fine. The top and headliner are in good condition with no rips tears or fading. The top functions as it should and is weather tight. All of the glass is in good condition. The windshield was removed for the paint and has new rubber. The rest of the body seals are in good shape. All chrome, trim, and bumpers are present and undamaged. The interior is in very nice stock shape. The front seats have new covers in the stock style and the rear seat is in good original condition with no rips or tears. Door panels and carpet look good and are stock. The dash is nice with no cracks all the gauges function properly as do all of the lights. Overall the car is in great condition and is ready to drive and enjoy the summer fun!! |

Move over Nissan Leaf, VW E-Golf is the new sales champ in Europe
Wed, Apr 8 2015Western European sales of the Volkswagen e-Golf electric vehicle got just extra charged up, and not just with electricity. For the first two months of the year, the VW EV overtook longstanding EV leader Nissan Leaf in terms of sales on the Continent, Aid Newsletter says. In fact, the e-Golf's 2,150 units sold in Western Europe through February was 400 more than what the Leaf managed. Norway was the key country here. With lots of EV incentives, the Leaf (not to mention the Tesla Model S) have always sold well there, but Volkswagen, through a big advertising push, moved more than three times as many e-Golfs in Norway as Nissan did the Leaf. It's sure a far cry from the US, where the Leaf remains the best-selling electric vehicle. Through February, Nissan moved 2,268 Leaf vehicles in the US, compared to 311 e-Golfs sold here. March sales didn't do much to change the balance, with 195 e-Golfs sold versus 1,817 Leafs. The e-Golf, which retails for about $36,000 in the States, gets an EPA-rated 116 miles per gallon equivalent, barely edging out the Leaf's 114 MPGe rating. The e-Golf can also go 83 miles on a single charge. Our review of the e-Golf is available here. Jay Leno takes a ride in Gabriel Iglesias' classic 1966 VW bus
Tue, Feb 3 2015We've seen Jay Leno driving all manner of vehicles, many of them epically fast. But few (this is side of his steamers, anyway) have been as slow – or quite as beautiful – as this classic 1966 Volkswagen Samba. While many of the vehicles featured on episodes of Jay Leno's Garage have actually been from Jay Leno's own garage, the former talk-show host has been known to feature some interesting rides from fellow comedians. A couple of weeks ago it was Adam Carolla's '68 Lamborghini Islero, and this vintage, pristine VW bus belongs to Gabriel Iglesias. It's in beautiful condition and is a sight to see, even if it has a little trouble making its way down the highway. Or starting up again after a quick snack break.
Yes, a family of 5 can live in a 1981 VW Westfalia van
Fri, Feb 14 2014Automakers and marketers trying to reach environmentally conscious consumers who desire the simple life basically have two strategies: promote electric vehicles that can be charged through green energy or sell a 30-year-old Volkswagen van on Craigslist. Nicolas Boullosa and Kirsten Dirksen opted for Plan B and turned a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia camper into a "micro-living" experiment. The co-founders of the simple living website faircompanies packed up their van and three young children for a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. They even turned the adventure into a documentary called Summer of (Family) Love, which you can view below. It's two hours long, so maybe add this to your weekend viewing list. They limited themselves to one backpack per person into a camper that they purchased off Craigslist and named "Westy." They stuck to their original intention of cooking all their own meals off a propane stove, creating a new little home every night in a different location, mostly spaces outside RV parks. They met up with other enthusiasts of the "tiny house" community who live like nomads. They were able to interview a few of then and, "With each stop we picked up some new piece of wisdom about life's essentials," Dirksen wrote in the faircompanies blog.
