1974 Vw Bettle Bug Volkswagon Classic Bug Type 1 Runs Drives Commuter on 2040-cars
Boise, Idaho, United States
You are bidding on a 1974 standard beetle.
This is VW bug that was manufactured 11/73. The speedometer reads 27125. The bug, runs drives and stops. It has a clear title. And also has a new battery and tires. The bug was used as a college commuter up until very recently. Overall it a decent little running, driving, and stopping vehicle. It does need some attention but I think most are pretty easy fixes. Here's what I would think it needs to make it a daily driver. The drivers door outside handle latch has fallen off. I don't know if you need just the little latch or a new handle. (currently you have to reach through the vent window or open from the passenger side) The turn signal lever just kinda flops around in the column and I suspect the handle needs replaced. The bug could use some fine tuning and may need motor mounts as the motor seems to rock back and forth at times more than I think it should. Body- The bug was originally orange and then received a quicky green paint job. The bug does have a few dent's and dings but is relatively straight overall. The bug has very little rust. It has a couple holes under the battery, the passenger vent behind above the rear 1/4 has a little bubbling rust out (see pics), and the rear floor pans where feet go have some small holes other wises it's very solid. Engine- Starts right up every time. It smokes just a little if it hasn't been started in a while but smooths out and runs pretty strong (see video) Drivetrain - the transmission seems to shift just fine. No weird noise or anything. Brakes- The brakes work good it stops when you tell it to and the E-brake engages and disengages as it should. Electrical- Head, tail, marker, emergency lights work fine. The wipers also work, however the turn signal lever on the wheel is broken (needs fixed), horn doesn't work, and radio doesn't power up(could be a loose wire just haven't even tried to figure it out) Interior- The interior is still functional but well used. The seats, headliner, door panels of course have some wear and tears. The hood release in the glove box does not function and it is missing a sun visor on the passenger side and missing the sun visor retaining clips on both sides. Overall its a decent little running, driving, stopping bug that could use a little TLC. It is in no way perfect, but a good start to a great classic bug. This little bug isn't all butchered up. With a little work it could be a good daily driver, maybe you wan't to turn it into a buggy, or can give it the love it needs to take it all the way back to factory original! Don't miss your chance to own this wonderful classic. These little bugs are getting harder and harder to find and just going up in value! Please ask any questions or request any specific photo before bidding. The bug is located in Boise, Idaho. I would be happy to show it in person just ask. The bug needs to be fully payed for within 7 day of auction end and needs to be picked up within 30 unless other arrangements are specifically made with me. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements. Again this is your chance own a fun little car classic car! Happy Bidding! |

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.

VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo
Fri, 08 Nov 2013We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.
