Estate of late Norman, OK VW collector offers this 1974 Super Beetle Deluxe Sedan. This car is in superb condition in all respects - the engine is strong, brakes are firm, clutch take-up is smooth, there is no play in the steering, the tires are near new, and the yellow paint is nearly flawless, as arethe chrome, bumpers, and exhaust tips. The black leatherette interior evidences no tears or cuts, the headliner is good (not perfect), and there is a narrow crack in the dashtop just above and to the right of the speedometer binnacle, about an inch long. The car runs, shows, and drives well, and is very reliable. NOTE: This VW came from the factory with an automatic transmission; the late collector had it converted to a VW 4-speed manual, and it shifts as a VW should. Further, the car was delivered with factory air conditioning, and it remains, save the compressor. If you have interest in a 1974 Super Beetle, this Volkswagen is worth your attention. Next-gen Volkswagen Golf R spied while running the 'Ring

The launch of a new Volkswagen Golf is never a small thing, and things are already looking up for the subcompact hatchback after it was named 2013 World Car of the Year. While we've already seen the base and GTI versions of the next-generation Golf, now we're getting our first look at the sportier Golf R.
Although this prototype wears GTI lettering on the front fenders, it's more than just the roll cage and Sparco racing seat hinting that this is something a little more serious. Unlike the Golf and GTI, this car shows that the Golf R will continue to flaunt massive air intakes on each side of the fascia, and the rear of the car (though it's hard to see) has quadruple exhaust outlets. We still don't have an official word on power, but rumors indicate that the next Golf R could be pushing close to 300 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Golf ever. As much fun as we had during our first drive of the Golf R Cabriolet in the cold, snowy French Riviera last month, more power is a warming idea.

The 911 Of Hot Hatches Takes The Compact Game To New Levels
North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.
