This 1974Volkswagon Beetle- Super Beetle Coupe Sun Bug Special Edition,  All this cars paper work was lost in a major fire.  The man who had it was a collector of High end cars like BMW, Bentley, Porches, and this little Bug covered up in the corner. All the cars were in a different building. And were sold at an estate auction. The Import Auto Gallery out of Chicago purchased this bug because of the condition it was in.  This car has been taken care of to almost like new condition.   The only thing I had to do to this car was install a new dome light, door jam switches and wiring.  Tune ups, oil changes. My mechanic thinks the motor and transmission is all original. The previous owner put all his attention in the Body and interior.  As the pictures will show you.  The odometer reads 969 miles, I believe the motor has rolled over because for years they could not be verified if they were actual. I am not a mechanic so I trust mine.  He said that when he checked the brakes, they showed a little less than half life. That makes me think it rolled over. Next, Ed (my mechanic) found that the compression was great for a car with that many miles. It's a head scratcher.  Also, this bug drives great. Steering and shifting are solid and smooth and will cruise 70MPH.  I never had a bug that fast. I was impressed with the torque and comfortable wide seats, Their like a fabric weave tweed. Everything works like it's supposed to. Windshield washer was upgraded to a 12 volt system. This car is so solid, I can stand on the running boards without any give. I'm 270. When you look underneath The floor pans look brand new rocker panels the same solid and seal coated inside all the fenders.  Doors close tight like a new car no rattles or swaying This car hugs the road. I hate to sell it, but I have my last child leaving for college.  The heater and defroster work excellent no leaks and plenty of airflow. The Sun Roof  Looks brand new and drain tube is properly hooked up.  The tires are brand new with new spare. Both doors need weather stripping replaced.  their is a little rust rash by right rear tail light and a tiny spot on the sun roof. Small Dent In rear bumper about the size of a dime. It wasn't their when I bought it.  The car has a average cd player with speakers in the kick panels.  If you would like to see more of pictures before you bid. e-mail me at rusty228@frontier.com  I Have been as honest as I can be, The title is clear and hope I can find someone to take her over.

2022 Genesis GV70, raging at VW ID.4 tech and thoughts on a new Lexus LFA | Autoblog Podcast #696

Fri, Sep 17 2021

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. This week, they talk about driving the Genesis GV70, VW ID.4 and VW Taos. They talk about ways Chevy could "fix" the Camaro. James ranked all the James Bond films based solely on their starring cars. Next, they reach in the mailbag and discuss the question, "Do you think Lexus will make a successor to the LFA and, if so, what do you guys think it would be like?" After ruminating on that query, they dip into the mailbag a second time to recommend a sporty crossover to a listener in this week's Spend My Money segment. When Android Automotive goes in the dash, Google wins — and automakers lose data

Tue, May 22 2018

You've gotta hand it to Google for the way the Silicon Valley tech giant has made indelible inroads into the car on multiple fronts. The most obvious is with its pioneering self-driving car technology that's caused car companies to get their act together on autonomous vehicles — and also collaborate with Google. Google has more directly extended its influence and data-mining capabilities into the car with its Android Auto smartphone-projection platform that most major automakers have adopted along with Apple's CarPlay. And now it's preparing to dig even deeper into dashboards by deploying its open-source operating system, Android Automotive, beginning with Audi and Volvo. Volvo recently announced that its next-generation Sensus infotainment system will run Android Automotive as an OS and include Google's Play Store for cloud-based content, Maps for navigation and Google Assistant for voice recognition, which can even command a car's climate control. By embedding Google in the dash, Volvo says owners will get an improved connected experience. "Bringing Google services into Volvo cars will accelerate innovation in connectivity and boost our development in applications and connected services," Volvo senior vice president of R&D Henrik Green said in a statement. "Soon, Volvo drivers will have direct access to thousands of in-car apps that make daily life easier and the connected in-car experience more enjoyable." Having Android Automotive onboard could benefit drivers — and provide a big win for Google, since it opens a deep and lucrative new data-mining vein for the company. But it's a wave of a white flag for car companies when it comes to delivering their own cloud-based content and services. It also represents a massive data giveaway and, for Audi, a reversal of earlier reservations about letting Google get too much access to car data. Not long after Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were introduced in 2014 and most automakers eagerly embraced the technologies, several German automakers second-guessed their decision when they realized what was at stake: data. At a conference in Berlin in 2015, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler said car owners "want to be in control of their data, and not subject to monitoring." A few months earlier, Stadler stated that "the data that we collect is our data and not Google's.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
