The floor pans are good except right behind the passenger seat, but no holes. The interior is in good original condition (see pictures). The Autostick transmission has been professionally rebuilt. The car has a new brake system (front disc brakes, new reservoir, hoses, brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and pads). The car has a new CD player and new speakers in the rear in speaker boxes. I have fabricated a shift knob from a "1" billiard ball. New trunk liner. New chrome engine parts. New air filter and housing. New breather on crankcase. New clutch disc, new torque converter. New battery. New engine compartment seals. New seat belts. New starter."

This is a very nice Volkswagen Beetle.  I have been driving it to work because it gets better gas mileage than my truck.  It starts reliably and cruises comfortably.  It has an Autostick transmission.  An autostick is basically an automatic clutch.  When you move the shifter, the car autmatically engages the clutch.  So, you do not need to know how to drive a stickshift transmission.  You just move the shifter.  The transmission is smooth and tight.  This car was purchased for my daughter.  I put a lot into it and she decided that she would rather not drive such an "old car."  I believe the paint to be original and I believe there are only 54688 miles on the car instead of 154688.  Nonetheless, the rebuilt engine and transmission have less than 200 miles on it.  I rebuilt the engine to stop some oil leaks (I know, overkill).  The person that rebuilt the engine found very little wear on the engine, just leaks.  It does not leak at all now.  There are some paint dings and scratches. Very little rust on the body.  The floor pans are good except right behind the passenger seat, but ther are no holes in the pan.  The interior is in good original condition (see pictures).  The engine has been completely professionally rebuilt (new oversize pistons and cylinders, new heads, new crankcase bolts, new piston rods, new push rods, new crankcase bearings, new push rod covers, new seals and gaskets). The Autostick transmission has been professionally rebuilt.  The car has a new brake system (front disc brakes, new reservoir, hoses, brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and pads).  The car has a new CD player and new speakers in the rear in speaker boxes.  I have fabricated a shift knob from a yellow "1" billiard ball.  New trunk liner.  New chrome engine parts.  New air filter and housing.  New breather on crankcase.  New clutch disc, new torque converter.  New battery.  New engine compartment seals. New seat belts. New starter. To be fully appreciated, you probably need to see this car in person.  If I were to keep the car, I would repair the windshield wipers (it's an electrical thing) and get it aligned, but other than that, I would just drive it.

I try to completely describe everything that I sell on Ebay.  I do not want any disappointed buyers.  I have a feedback rating of 100% and I strive to keep it that way.  This car is for sale for $5000.  I realize that I cannot get back what I have put into this car.  I don't believe you could purchase the new stuff for that prices, let alone the whole car.  My loss is going to be someone's gain.  It might as well be you.  Thanks for looking and feel free to e-mail me any questions that you have.  This car is for sale locally and other places on line.  Needless to say, I reserve the right to end this listing early. So buy now if you are going to buy.

Volkswagen reveals Beetle GSR, R-Line convertible and two special GTIs

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Volkswagen has chosen to really expand its performance-tuned portfolio at this year's Chicago Auto Show, bringing along a couple of new Beetles destined for model year 2014, as well as a pair of freshened GTI packages that you'll be able to buy almost right away.
The first, and splashiest of the Chicago goodies on the VW stand has got to be the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR. Don't lose your temper, Acura Integra geeks; in this case, GSR stands for "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer," and harkens back to a sport-tuned classic Beetle from the 1970s. For the 2014 iteration, the GSR gets a 210-horsepower version of VW's 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. That engine is enough to push the Beetle to 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds, and up to a top speed of 130 mph.
Of course, you'll have long-since noticed the shockingly yellow-and-black livery before you stumble across the Turbo badge on the rear deck. The GSR gets 19-inch alloy wheels, 235-section tires and a tea-tray rear spoiler, but it's the paint and graphics package that will decide if this is your (lemony) cup of tea. Things don't get any subtler inside the car, either, as VW has carried the colorway through to the interior, as well. Only 3,500 Beetle GSRs will be produced, with just more than half of those going to the US - call your dealer today, Wiz Khalifa.

VW promises 7-seat CUV for America in 2016

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018.
That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. Read the full statement below for more.

2014 VW Golf brings storied hatchback's seventh generation to US

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf in US-specification officially debuts at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The new model is the first VW in the States to ride on the company's MQB architecture, and as such, it makes use of plenty of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel to keep weight down. All told, the new shell is 51 pounds lighter than the outgoing generation, despite the fact that the finished car is a full 2.2 inches longer and .5 inches wider than the 2013 model.
Buyers can expect to find a base model powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (blue car above) with 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. That means the powerplant delivers the same horsepower as the old naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder while weighing less and producing seven extra pound-feet of torque. TDI (silver car above) buyers, meanwhile, will enjoy a new 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder mill. VW says the engine yields 10 more horsepower than the old lump, which means the Golf TDI now boasts 150 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.
GTI (red car above) buyers will now get their hands on a revised 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with approximately 210 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque - Volkswagen hasn't finalized power numbers for that machine. We're happy to see that the GTI still features its trademark plaid seats. Volkswagen says the new Golf and GTI will go on sale as a 2015 model, but doesn't say when the car will actually hit dealerships.
