Here's my baby and she's for sale.
I just don't have the time to take care of her anymore and I'd rather see her go to someone that can take the time to enjoy her more than I can.
Don't like the price? Feel free to make me an offer, the worst thing that can happen is I say no (and depending on how low the offer is it may make me sad too but oh well right!)
Here are some details for now, I may add more later as I remember them, if you have ANY questions or want more pictures PLEASE do not hesitate to ask!

* Just built 2017cc engine built by the Great Paul Ripa of JBBugs (www.jbbugs.com) he knows his stuff, been around forever and a half, and also road races his own car.
Engine still has under 150 miles on it.
Here are some details of the engine:
- CB Supercase AS41 90.5mm fully flowed Magnesium case (yes, the discontinued ones that everyone and their Mother wants)
- Eagle racing 2288 camshaft
- 78.4mm CB Forged 4340 Chromoly counterweighted crank (8 dowelled, balanced)
- CB Uni-tech HD Plus I-beam rods with HD bolts
- 90.5mm AA pistons and cylinders
- Mini D port heads that Pat Downs from CB Performance set up for me. He did a 2 angle valve job, 4 angle valve seat job, new valve guides, new valves, new retainers, installed and set the new VW650 springs and fly cut them to 58cc (which gives me 8.6:1 compression with a 0.050" deck height).
- Custom made head studs, Chromoly 4140, 8mm threads, 9mm shaft
- 12.5 lbs flywheel
- DRD Racing Chromoly racing Gland nut
- CB breather tower
- Weber 44 IDF carbs
- CB hex bar linkage
- 51 amp alternator
- German valve covers
- Gene Berg 1.5qt deep sump
- A1 Sidewinder
- CB ultralight 28mm lifters
- Manton Chromoly pushrods (0.058" wall thickness)
- CB 1493 VW650 Dual Springs
- Stainless steel windage push rod tubes
- Schadek 26mm oil pump with cover
- Daikin clutch disc
- Kennedy stage 1 pressure plate
- Billet distributor clamp
- Billet alternator pulley with matching hex nut
- 8mm Spiro-Pro plug wire set
- JayCee mag oil sump plate
- Gene Berg 6lb Equalizer pulley
- Mallory Unilite distributor
- Magnum straight cut gears
- CB 1.3:1 rocker arms and solid shaft

Engine is in the car and runs and drives, however it still needs to be tuned right. Right now I think it's too rich on the bottom end (idle jets) I'm using 60 idles, 160 mains, 200 air and 50 pump jets with F11 emulsion tubes and 36mm venturis. The car bogs down a little when warm and below ~3500 RPM at part throttle. I have the timing set at about 30 degrees max advance with grey/grey springs. Running BP6ES spark plugs.

* New KCR Superstreet Plus transmission (has less than 110 miles on it).
- Super diff
- Heavy Duty side cover
- Welded third and fourth
- Steel forks
- 4.12 Klindenberg R&P

* MSD-6AL with adjustable rev limiter
* Kenwood KDC-X995 head unit (top of the line, bluetooth, pandora, etc etc etc) with 6.5" front speakers, two rear tweeter and two subs with 4 way amplifier
* Hirshmann antenna
* Optima battery
* 4.5" front and 5.5" rear wheels
* New matching tires (Yokohama Avid Envigor, 175/65/15 front 205/60/15 rear)
* Pop out windows
* Original spare with bias ply tire

There's obviously more I just can't think of it right now.
I also have a bunch of spare parts, door panels, two German doors, German decklid, suspension parts etc etc all those parts are also included in the sale.

The paint is not in the best shape, there are cracks and dings here and there, but it's a presentable car and turns heads everywhere I drive it (just drove it today and got tons of thumbs up).

I will also include (IF you want them) all the trophies the car has received for the last 14 years I have owned it, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies at several shows across California (it's a California car I brought along with me to Florida when I moved here) and Florida shows.

I also have a tow bar I will include if you need it.

I also have a box of receipts and paperwork since around 2000, and a logbook/journal that I kept for the car.
Mileage is not actual.

Here's a video I made a couple of weeks ago (I know the oil cap is off, I had just changed the oil and was doing the first start after the oil change):

Let me know if you have any questions or need any more pictures or details, or would like to come inspect the car.

Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg take the R-Line

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal.
On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.

Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes also under diesel emissions scrutiny

Sat, Oct 10 2015

The controversy over Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal isn't limited to the US. In Europe, where diesel engines are far more popular, the issue is shining a harsh light on the NEDC emissions test. As already known, the evaluation does a poor job of reflecting real-world production of NOx, and it appears a significant number of automakers are affected. The Guardian in the UK has been reporting on real-world test results from a company called Emissions Analytics. After the latest round of checks, vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Mazda and Mitsubishi were found to generate far more NOx than they should. The newspaper also published similar results for Renault, Nissan, Hyundai, Fiat, Volvo, Jeep, Citroen, VW, and Audi. On average, the figures are about four times over the limit of producing the pollutant. Unlike VW and its defeat device, these automakers aren't actually breaking the rules. The vehicles perform up to the NEDC lab test for emissions, but those results simply aren't translated to the street. "The VW issue in the US was purely the trigger which threw light on a slightly different problem in the EU - widespread legal over-emissions," Nick Molden from Emissions Analytics said to The Guardian. A big fight to decide the future of this issue appears to be on the horizon. Automakers claim that they can't meet the next round of tightening emissions regulations and are asking for compromises. Although, spokespeople for Mercedes and Honda told The Guardian that the brands would be in favor of the stricter rules. Meanwhile, some European governments began backtracking their support of diesels well before this scandal came to light. The added scrutiny certain hasn't helped the future of the oil-burner. Did Lexus make a BMW? Or did BMW make a Lexus? This and other 2017 surprises

Fri, Dec 29 2017

It's that time of year again. The calendar is about to reach its end, Star Trek Cats 2018 is about to take its place, and I'm reflecting about all the cars that graced my driveway this year or summoned me to exotic places. You know, like Stuttgart or Phoenix. In 2017, I drove at least 57, and as I perused the list of them, I started to notice a common refrain: "This car surprised me." Most were pleasant surprises, but there were a few head scratchers and facepalms for good measure. In both cases, it was generally the result of car companies seemingly trying to break out of an existing mold. Nowhere was that more apparent than the pair of Lexuses slathered in Infrared paint: The LS 500 that left me this week and the LC 500 that was my favorite car of 2017. Though Lexus has been trying to shake its crusty, gold-packaged reputation for some time now, its efforts always seemed like an old man choosing Hollister to redo his wardrobe after realizing it hasn't been updated since 1987. I fell in love with the LC, genuinely floored by its near-perfect take on the GT. It's characterful in sound, appearance and tactility. It was at home in the city, in the mountain and on the open road. It was both comfortable and thrilling, and after driving the mechanically related LS 500, I can report that the LC's talents aren't an outlier. The LS 500's turbo V6 may make different noises than the LC's naturally aspirated V8, but it nevertheless invigorates the cabin when the car is placed in Sport+ mode. The steering is truly communicative, body motions are kept in miraculous check, and I absolutely forgot I was in an enormous luxury limo ... and a Lexus one at that. It was everything that the BMW 530e was not. I drove that on the exact same roads and was utterly bored the entire time. Generally doughy, lifeless steering, more distant than Planet 9. And no, the plug-in hybrid powertrain had nothing to do with that. At least it shouldn't. The Porsche Panamera S e-Hybrid I also drove this year proves that, as do the Hyundai Ioniqs, which are surprisingly adept and fun little cars regardless of what powers their wheels (Hyundai + hybrid = fun really blew me away). I would drive that Lexus LS F Sport over the BMW 5 Series any day of the week, which seems like a shocking thing to say in relation to either car. While Lexus is seemingly breaking out of its old crusty mold, BMW seems to be climbing into one.
