I have been rebuilding this car for about three years now and almost everything has been rebuilt or replaced on it. It has new floor pans, paint,wheels, tires, interior, brakes, rebuilt engine with less than 20 miles on it, cd player, brake lines, ball joints, cv joints, tierods and lots more. It is showing 29,200 miles. It has earlier style low back seats and the engine has the later style larger cooling fan and oil cooler. I replace the transaxil with one out of a 73 model because it has better highway gears. The car is as clean underneith as it is on top. I bought this car wrecked, it was hit in the back and needed a right rear fender, deck lid and exaust panel. It wasn't hit that hard but since it was an old unrestored car the insurance company totaled it so it now has a "rebuilt" title. The car runs and drives like new, It was a body off restoration, it will make someone a really nice driver. I'm selling because I have to fix the HVAC system in my home, my reserve price wouldn't build this car.I'm selling at no reserve, so don't miss out.Thanks and feel free to ask any questions. |

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers
Fri, 19 Apr 2013The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.

That, of course, was MotorWeek, the television car program produced by Maryland Public Television and hosted by the inimitable John Davis. The program first aired back in 1981, and after more than three decades in the business, it's got a considerable archive of old episodes to unearth. In this latest gem recovered from the MotorWeek back catalog, the program pitted two European sports sedans against each other: a Volkswagen Jetta GLI and a Peugeot 505 Turbo. That's right: back in the 1980s, Peugeot was still competing in the US marketplace. The forced-induction 505 may not have been enough to keep the French automaker in American showrooms, but it was enough to stand up against the VW. Which one won MotorWeek's favor? After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
