The vehicle has undergone a restoration/ rebuild where the floor pans were replaced and the three inch body lift composed of 3in square stock of steel was welded in. The front nose of the vehicle was customized with a fiberglass Baja kit where the nose and hood were replaced. All of the fenders are also fiberglass replacements. The rear also has a fiberglass piece on top that acts as an air scoop to pull air to the engine. The interior is stock for the most part. The shifter knob is aftermarket with a pull up style reverse lockout. One problem is that the drivers seat is ripped in the middle, other than that the seats are all original. It does not, however, have any carpet or headliner. The floor and headliner were undercoated. The battery is in the vehicle under the rear seat and it is an optima(yellow top) gel battery. The speedometer is not hooked up, the empi replacement cable is still in the packaging in the rear seat of the vehicle. The wiring has been removed. Also included is a tow bar and the front and rear metal tube steel bumpers. The wheels are chrome, and the front are significantly smaller than the rear. The suspension is torsion in the front and rear, which is the original style of these VWs. The rear has had the torsion springs tightened and notched so the frame does not contact the rear suspension. Also this is the reason the vehicle can clear the 31 10.50 super swamper rear tires. The engine does run, however, it does not run well. The engine seems out of adjustment, I am not familiar with VW adjustment procedures. I installed dual EMPI 44 HPMX carburetors that could be out of adjustment. Another problem with the engine is that it leaks oil as most VW engines do. The vehicle has been garaged for most of the time I have had it. This vehicle is not perfect but allot of money has been invested to get it to this point but I have lost interest and want this vehicle gone. I tried to cover everything but feel free to ask questions.

Production Volkswagen Taigun crossover caught in patent filing?
Wed, 01 May 2013Volkswagen brought an angular, bulldog-like small crossover concept called Taigun to the São Paulo motor show last year, claiming that it wanted to gauge interest in the design before making a decision about production. If a new report with alleged leaked patent images is to be believed, then, interest must have been pretty high.
China's Auto.Sohu.com has published this group of Taigun images, claiming that they have been sourced from the Chinese patent office and that the subcompact VW utility based on the Up! has been cleared for production.
If all of that is true, and if these images are representative of the final product, you'll see that designers haven't done much to alter the concept car's appearance. Comparing, shot for shot, with the images we have from Brazil, we see that even small details like roof rack-mounted lights and exhaust tips integrated in the rear fascia have been carried over. Take a closer look for yourself in the attached galleries.
2014 Volkswagen GTI to start a new hot hatch era in Geneva
Tue, 26 Feb 2013The upcoming Geneva Motor Show is going to be stocked with important new production models and sexy concept cars, but hot hatch enthusiasts will undoubtedly see it as the coming out party of the MkVII Volkswagen GTI. And while we've only got European specifications and pricing to go on for now, we can tell from the get-go that the new GTI will be a proper heir to VW's hot hatch legacy.
This seventh-generation GTI is powered by a turbocharged, direct-injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque in base form. For the first time ever, Volkswagen is also offering a performance pack for the GTI as well, which ups the horsepower to 230 (torque remains unchanged). With a slightly lower curb weight to push around - the new base car weighs 2,978 pounds versus 3,034 for the current three-door GTI - 0-62 miles per hour is now achieved in 6.5 seconds, and top speed is 153 mph. (Cars with the performance pack offer 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds, and a 155-mph top speed.) Buyers my choose between a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed DSG unit.
Visually, the new GTI has obviously adopted the slant-nosed looks of the MkVII Golf, though with plenty of added drama. The exterior is dominated by the 17-inch "Brooklyn" wheels wearing 225-section rubber, and the aggressive front fascia gets black honeycombed inserts in the upper and lower grille sections. At launch, Volkswagen will offer the GTI in three colors: the Pure White seen here, Tornado Red and Black. Tartan patterned seats are of course still an option for the interior, while the GTI-specific steering wheel and shift knob are standard.
Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.
