This is a classic 1966 vw beetle, with 114500 original miles. The car was utilized until 1977, then stored until 2008 when it was inherited by the original owner's nephew. However due to lack of vw restoration knowledge he opted to sell. We then purchased the car at that time hoping to do a full restore, however due to unexpected obligations we will not have the time for this restoration project.
So here is your chance for a profitable and fun retoration project at a very nice price!
The car runs and drives, and features an original 66 F series motor that has been rebuilt to 1500 cc's for better freeway response.
Motor has 400 miles and the transmission, body, floor pan and front end body tag all match!
It has the original door panels in brick red, the rear two are in very good condition, but the front need to be replaced
The right seats have been installed, (missing when purchased) (they do need the right color covers) the headliner is original and intact.
The rear package area carpeting in red is still there, and the floor pad is in place.
The body work (minor block sanding and leveling) on the car needs to be completed, and for the diehard like myself repainted the L87 pearl white
Or make it your own color choice!
The original black plates come with the car, and it has the newer white plates that the nephew received from the DMV in 2008
All the original German sheet metal is there except for the decklid which was replaced with a OG decklid, and just needs the 1300 script put on.
(included)
The main harness has been redone, and electrics are all working , including dome light
Gas tank has been boiled out and vent cleared, no gas smell inside of car.
Still has whats left of original trunk cover!
Good pan with no rust holes; drivers side jack point needs to be reattached

eBay Find of the Day: Unrestored Herbie Love Bug movie car
Wed, Dec 10 2014Well before Cars ever hit the screens, The Love Bug series of Disney films – starring Herbie the VW Beetle with a mind of its own – was an early introduction to cars and racing for many budding auto fans. Not the modern remake starring Lindsay Lohan mind you, but the originals from the '60s and '70s. Now, a seller in Texas claims to be offering a chance to own one of the Bugs from the films on eBay Motors. According to the auction, this Beetle didn't appear in the original film but was built for the sequel Herbie Rides Again in 1972 and also appeared in the third installment Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. This VW was prepared as the blind-drive car for the movies that attached a low-mounted chair in the back and extended controls to let Herbie look like he was driving himself. Although, some of the photos here show the Bug with regular seats fitted, too. This Herbie was reportedly found in a Florida warehouse a few years ago. It was then made operable, while trying to keep it as original as possible. The exterior underwent a slight restoration with input from former Disney special effects staff, according to the seller. The changes added new graphics and rebuilt the blind drive setup. Judging by these pictures, the rest of the interior was left mostly untouched, though. Of course, anyone interested in buying a movie car is going to want proof of its authenticity. The seller claims to have the original California title showing the buyer as Disney in 1972. The Bug also reportedly has a unique rear decklid that mixes early and later parts to help identify it in the film. As of this writing, bidding for Herbie sits at $55,100 with 82 bids and a reserve not yet met. The sale closes on Saturday, December 13.
NA auto output to reach 11-year peak
Thu, 13 Jun 2013According to Automotive News, automakers are expected to manufacture 16 million light vehicles in North America in 2013. That's up 500,000 units from last year and marks the largest number since 2002. The prediction comes courtesy of LMC Automotive and IHS Automotive, which point to the improving US economy as a bellwether for total production. LMC Automotive says North America will produce 16 million vehicles while IHS has a slightly more optimistic forecast of 16.1 million units. A total of seven automakers are slated to increase production on the continent this year. Nissan is set to see the largest jump at 20 percent over last year.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, is one of the only manufacturers predicted to scale back production. Analysts expect the German company's output to fall by 23 percent to 170,000 units, thanks in part to slow demand for the Volkswagen Passat and Jetta.
