1966 Volkswagon Beetle - 27,885 Miles. Price Reduced! Original Owner (vehicle was purchased by my husband's grandparents brand new). Cream Exterior with Red Interior. Vehicle is in good condition. Exterior is rust free and in good condition. Exterior was repainted 10-15 yrs ago. Has a few minor dings on hood that recently happened when a bucket fell on it in the garage it's stored in (can be seen on pictures); they are not rusted. Door handle is missing a screw. Right door seal is coming loose at the bottom of the door only and would require reattachment. Underbody was undercoated when it was repainted and had repair/restoration done to the rear wheel wells when it was undercoated.  Underbody in good condition, can still be put on a lift by lift points, was recently put on a lift for inspection.

Interior is all original and in good condition except for radio. The dash was not cut to fir the radio, there was a slot in the dash for it.  Seats are in great condition. Vehicle has been very well maintained and has always been stored in a garage. Car starts right up and runs well for its age. All switches, turn signals and horn are functioning. Make an offer!

VW Scirocco is the car nerd's classic car

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Petrolicious undoubtedly makes some fantastic videos, but it often focuses on expensive, rare vehicles that many people might not be able to afford for their garage. This week the spotlight shifts to a modern coupe that's fairly accessible: the Volkswagen Scirocco. Owner Jason Cammisa is a senior editor at Road & Track, and his job puts him behind the wheel of some of the world's fastest supercars. Despite that, he has kept driving this 16-valve Scirocco that he has owned since college. The Scirocco is an easy car to love, though. Its simple, angular lines still look beautiful on the road today. While the four-cylinder engine doesn't make huge power, the coupe is nimble and ideal for a drive over twisty roads. Cammisa also makes an interesting point about owning affordable classics like this. Without a wealthy owner base like those that support vintage Corvettes or Porsches, there's little desire in the aftermarket to produce spare parts for his Scirocco. He worries about keeping the VW on the road decades into the future. For now, enjoy this '80s coupe thanks to this great clip from Petrolicious.

UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.

VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years

Sun, 26 May 2013

It hasn't been without incident or union organizing drive, but the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN has built its 250,000 Passat in just a little over two years. The Night Blue Passat TDI with black leather has come just two years and five weeks after the first customer car came off the line on April 18, 2011.
In the last year the plant operated at the 150,000-unit capacity that it was intended for, but the downturn in Passat sales and subsequent worker layoffs mean it will be a challenge to repeat the feat. The plant does have the world's largest solar park, though, and you can't take that away from them.
You'll find the official hand-clapping in the press release below.
