1966 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible

Complete New Top
New Seats
New Vinyl Flooring
New Tires

This 1966 Volkswagen Beetle convertible is a one owner vehicle.  I am assisting the owner in selling this car.  It has passed hands from the Mother that bought it new to the Son who has it currently.  There is a lot of documentation included.  The original window sticker, bill of sale, and many years of service records are included.  There are also some period specific service and repair manuals.

I have looked all over this car and it seems to be in excellent condition.  I am very picky about vehicles and will try and describe this one as accurately as possible.  The paint is in excellent condition for 1966 paint but not perfect.  The body does have some dents but nothing that could not be repaired if the car was going to be repainted.  This car is in original condition as far the exterior and drivetrain and has very little to no rust.  As you can see in the pictures, the top has been completely replaced including the wood.  The trunk area looks great.  Everything there is in really good condition.  The factory jack is even included!  The engine bay is not completely spotless but there are no leaks and it run flawlessly. This is the 1300cc 50hp engine.  It was converted to 12V from 6V some years ago.  Other than that, the engine has not been modified or ever taken apart.  A few years ago, the clutch was replaced and seems to operate smoothly as it should.  The wheels, hubcaps, and beauty rings look very good.  The tires are also new.

The interior looks very nice.   I would judge it to be about a 9 out of 10.  The seats have been recovered with the correct style covers and the carpet (vinyl flooring) is new.  Other than that, it is all original.  The door panels and interior panels look new but have not been replaced.   Dash, gauges, and switches are all very nice.  The keys are even the correct VW style.  There is some light pitting on the chrome but it is minor.

This car is not one that has been abused or heavily modified.  It is a good example of an original 1966 Beetle Convertible.  This could easily be "restored" if desired or keep it just as it is for a great "driver".

Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.

Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.
