Beautiful 1964 VW Bug. I bought this from a friend who had this since the late 1990s. Her husband surprised her with it for her birthday with a big bow. He bought it from the original or second owner (not sure) who also bought it for his wife and had it painted in approx 1996 in its original color VW Seeblau. I have a touch up applicator with the paint code. The guy who does my painting was able to find it in his computer and was surprised. I was going to have him paint the two areas on the drivers side fenders and touch up passenger door, hood and anywhere it was needed ( see pictures ) .  There is no bondo on these areas but thick single stage paint. The dent in the rear is from a tree limb and the previous owner did not know how the front fender was damaged. I will let the new owner have these areas painted and will provide the applicator with the code.

The lady I bought it from believes it is the original engine and mileage at 65,000.  I have had a VW Thing, several convertibles,  hard top Bugs and several campers busses. This is the oldest and most original. The car has the original jack (needs cleaning) and tool kit and original books. The car spent most of its life in Colorado and the pan is excellent as is the rest of the body. The front spare holds air but should be replaced as it looks to be old. I just had a tire store put on 4 new white wall inserts or flappers. They are fake whitewalls made by Atlas and in my opinion look beautiful.

My VW mechanic did a compression test and it was very good. The car runs and shifts well. It has the original 6 volt system. The dash is beautiful with a removable radio cut out from the factory  if you want a radio. I flushed the gas tank which was in very nice shape but had been sitting and added fresh gas. My mechanic did an oil change and  removed and cleaned the carb and changed the fuel filter. Two weeks ago the fuel pump quit so I had a new fuel pump installed.  Last week I had my mechanic  change the oil, adjust the valves, and lubricate the throttle cable front and rear.  He replaced the heater cable 3 weeks ago and the heat works really well for an older aircooled vehicle.

The interior and door panels are brand new (TMI) as is the rear carpet. The bottom back of each seat (rear) has loose material that separated from the plastic. I would just leave it but you could prabably hog ring it together. The headliner is presentable but shows wear and some staining (looks like over glue) The headliner has separated from the rear above the passenger window. There is a bamboo shelf that is brittle but can still be used. I would replace it. My mechanic was not sure the front headlights were original but they work and look great. The glass is all in great shape and most of the rubber around the windows is in good shape. The front firewall carpet shows wear around the edges and could be replaced. The wiper motor is frozen and might be repaired but I would replace it. They can be purchased for 35 - 100 dollars on the VW Samba site. I also saw one today for under $40.00 on EBAY.The interior side ceiling light is inoperative. The rims are aftermarket Porsche style and look great and the tires are in good condition. The car has a slight transmisson leak and my mechanic said it was from an area that used platic plugs. The car needed less than 1/2 pint on tranny fluid.

Someone always asks will this car make the drive to the east or west coasts. My answer would be maybe but I would not drive it that far and it is not very fast. I do fine at 5500 feet but you must use the gears. The brakes are very good and the master cyclinder was replaced.

I take very good care of all my vehicles. I do not want to trade and do not have a Buy It Now. Will not disclose reserve. This is a very nice example of a 1964 Bug.

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee teases return with a Countach

Fri, May 29 2015

Unless you have an intense aversion to Jerry Seinfeld, it's hard not to find something to like about his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. After all, the series combines funny people telling often hilarious stories while riding in ridiculously cool vehicles. The trailer for the sixth season is now online, and based on this tease, this definitely looks worth watching no matter what part of the videos interest you. Of course, it's the automotive portion that really grabs us, and Seinfeld has quite a fleet to showcase for season six. The trailer shows off a Lamborghini Countach, a '57 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a classic Volkswagen Beetle in the green and white German Polizei livery, a Morgan, an Aston Martin DB5, and a Ferrari 308. On the more humorous side of things, the guest list at least includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and upcoming host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah. Season six of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee premieres on Crackle on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:30 PM ET.

Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once - especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015.
The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well.
For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan - both long rumored to be on their way out - will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment.

Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?
