Amazing Untouched '62 Ragtop

Putting up for auction my "must see to believe" all original '62 beetle ragtop.  This rust free beetle still retains the original paint, interior, headliner, etc.  The car spent the majority of its life in arizona.  I have tons of paperwork showing all work done since new and mileage through the years.  In 1965 the motor was replaced by VW dealership with a brand new factory '65 model motor, also have the paperwork for this.  The front fenders for unknown reason have replaced with correct '62 fenders years and years ago. not sure as to why as the car has never been involved in any accident.  The original paint is unbelievable with minimal "patina" fading.  Check out the video, very accurate of how the car actaully looks in person.  This is definitely a beetle that i know if anything the car is much nicer in person than in pictures.  I am a serious vw collector focusing mostly on unrestored early model beetles and buses.  I hate to see this one go, but with 10+ driver condition vws I must let a few go.  This car is one of the nicest original cars I have but is the most recent addition so letting it go before coming too attached.  Coming from Arizona, this beetle is very dry, absolutely NO rust anywhere and never has had any rust.  What you see is what you get!  And now for the best part, driving this beetle, hands down you will not find a smoother driving, shifting 62 beetle anywhere.  Drives like it just rolled off the showroom floor.  I am sure there is much more I am forgetting as this is truly real gem of a find with a very reasonable reserve as all my vehicles I ever sell usually do within the first week.  I am not a "it brought this on barret jackson" kind of guy

I will be adding a youtube video link later this evening that does a great job showing the car running and the accurate condition of the car

Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept is an aspirational Jetta

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Meet the Volkswagen baby CC. Okay, that's not really it's name (VW calls it the New Midsize Coupe Concept), but this sleek, four-door coupe draws more than a little inspiration from the CC while riding on VW's MQB platform.
It's a looker, we think, and is an eye-pleasing departure from the bland styling of the current Jetta. The sleeker front end is complemented by a wider body overall (it's wider than a Passat), while the more sporting roofline and the sharp rear fascia gives the New Midsize Coupe a decidedly sporting character. LED head- and taillights add a bit more personality to this already stylish design.
Thanks to its 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder, it should get along rather sportingly, as well. The run to 62 miles per hour takes just 6.5 seconds thanks to the 217 horsepower on offer. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is also fitted, and contributes to an estimated 37 miles per gallon.

NA auto output to reach 11-year peak

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

According to Automotive News, automakers are expected to manufacture 16 million light vehicles in North America in 2013. That's up 500,000 units from last year and marks the largest number since 2002. The prediction comes courtesy of LMC Automotive and IHS Automotive, which point to the improving US economy as a bellwether for total production. LMC Automotive says North America will produce 16 million vehicles while IHS has a slightly more optimistic forecast of 16.1 million units. A total of seven automakers are slated to increase production on the continent this year. Nissan is set to see the largest jump at 20 percent over last year.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, is one of the only manufacturers predicted to scale back production. Analysts expect the German company's output to fall by 23 percent to 170,000 units, thanks in part to slow demand for the Volkswagen Passat and Jetta.

2015 Volkswagen Golf R [w/video]

Mon, Nov 24 2014

Volkswagen hired a photographer to come shoot the handful of journalists that it brought to drive the 2015 Golf R at Buttonwillow Raceway north of Los Angeles. This fact, though unremarkable in and of itself, was something I hadn't noticed until I was well into my track time – probably ten laps deep on a day that would see me run twice that number. In any event, I noticed the intrepid shooter as he was sprinting from one side of the track to the other somewhere before Turn 2, while I was barreling down the main straightaway, still looking through Turn 1. In the roughly two-mile configuration of the track that I drove, Buttonwillow is a big, wide-open circuit, largely flat and with excellent overall visibility. On that layout, and just hours into my Golf R experience, I'd already become confident in endeavoring to push the limits of VW's latest blistering hatch. In fact, the easy nature of driving the thing quickly had me overestimating my pace. So when I saw the photog sprint across the tarmac I instinctively slowed way too much, way too early for Turn 1. Looking back at the incident after I'd pitted for the session, I laughed at myself, knowing I'd have had to be driving almost double my actual speed to put the camera guy in any real danger of being hit. But the experience crystallized what my full test of the R bore out: this is a car that makes you feel much faster than you otherwise would, at least in a competition setting. The 2015 Golf R is an uber hatch that will flatter those hyper-enthusiasts passionate enough to splash out on its steep price tag, but without threatening sales of core models like the GTI and its ilk. That's a good thing for the VW fanboys, to be sure, and, I'd argue, a great thing for the strength of the German brand overall. {C} The R felt both placid and comfortable while I clicked off highway miles in search of the racetrack. My test in California had at least two things in common with the First Drive feature that Steve Ewing brought us with the Golf R in Sweden. First, we both drove European specification cars (though mine didn't suffer from the same sticker abuse that Steve's did). Second, we were both somewhat limited in terms of driving the car in varied, real-world situations. My street route consisted almost entirely of tracking California's I-5 north out of Los Angeles; which any Angelino will tell you is a less-than-riveting mode of travel.
