1959 Vw Bug Volkswagen Beetle California Dry Solid Bug No Rot All Og Pans, heat on 2040-cars
Princeton Junction, New Jersey, United States
You are bidding on a 1959 Volkswagen Beetle. This is a super solid car that was originally from California. It even still has a service sticker in the driver's side door jamb from a service shop in California! This car has rust free, rot free original heater channels and floor pans in it. Save time and money not having to buy heater channels and pans, weld them in, and still never be as good as factory! The interior is all original down to the factory blue paint, with some worn out slip on seat covers covering the original vinyl seat covers and horsehair padding. Headliner is gone, and the majority of the carpet and rubber floor mats are gone, some remnants remain. The 36HP starts right up and runs like a sewing machine. Idles nice, with no exhaust leaks, taps, or knocks. Has a newer 6V battery. The entire fuel system has been flushed out, including the humpback fuel tank. The brake system has been completely overhauled using new wheel cylinders, master cylinders, shoes and hardware. The original split case transaxle has some issues with 1st gear and reverse. You can forcefully get it into gear, but there is certainly an issue. I am told this is very common with these early split case transaxles. I can include an additional transaxle from a 1958 parts car, but it's condition is unknown. I was planning on having a later 60's transaxle rebuilt and put into the car. The car is not very driveable, but bolt-on parts are the easy part with these old VW's. The car is sitting on 4 Coker Tire brand wide white wall radial tires with good life in them. Has the original "H" apron in nice shape. The front apron has been replaced back in the day, as well as the hood - however it still retains a correct 4 tab hood. The front fenders were never replaced, but repaired with bondo and could use replacement, or just leave them alone if you're going after the patina look. The car is sprayed in white paint from years and years back and has weathered and worn over time. It's possible the original blue paint can be uncovered with hard work and determination, if not, this car is an excellent candidate for a repaint as it's so solid. Doors show no signs of rust or rot, nor do the rear quarter panels, decklid, etc. Roof shows no dents or dings, and the gutter channels are nice and straight. Has the original rear "dimpled" fenders with snowflake tail lights. I think the pictures do the talking for anything else I may have left out! Car has a clean and clear NJ title. Please contact me at any time at 917-533-2786 with any other questions you may have for this car. I am shipping friendly and will gladly work with you on shipping, or you can come to my house and pick her up! She rolls perfectly with a towbar. For sale locally and reserve the right to end auction if the right cash buyer shows up! |

Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates
Wed, Jul 23 2014Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once – especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015. The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well. For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan – both long rumored to be on their way out – will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment. Meanwhile the Routan, which hasn't actually been built in over a year, is finally dead, as VW confirms it has dropped the Chrysler-built minivan from its lineup for 2015 altogether. The German automaker has also confirmed that the Touareg is getting a facelift early in the new year, which we expect will closely follow the revisions revealed a few months ago ahead of the Beijing Motor Show. Finally VW has announced an upgrade to its 2.0-liter TDI. Fitted to the Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle, the updated diesel gets 10 more horsepower with output now up to 150 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque. Scope out the full list of announcements in the press release below. MODEL YEAR 2015: NEW GOLF FAMILY, REDESIGNED JETTA, AND NEW TDI® CLEAN DIESEL ENGINE HEAD THE CHANGES Jul 22, 2014 In a busy year, Volkswagen will also add a new Golf SportWagen, an all-new Golf R, a redesigned Touareg SUV, and the company's first U.S.-market EV, the e-Golf - All-new Golf is bigger, lighter, and more fuel-efficient than the previous model, seats five, and has a larger trunk than any midsize sedan - New Golf GTI has 210-horsepower engine, with improved fuel efficiency and performance - e-Golf is Volkswagen's first full Battery Electric Vehicle for sale in the U.S.
Recharge Wrap-up: VW CEO mulls battery factory, voters approve $201B in transportation funding
Mon, Nov 21 2016Volkswagen Group CEO Matthias Muller says that it would "make sense" for the automaker to begin producing its own batteries. As the company moves toward electrification, Muller says it would be a smart move to build a battery factory. "If more than a quarter of our cars are to be electronic vehicles in the foreseeable future then we are going to need approximately 3 million batteries a year," he says. Volkswagen has agreed to cut 30,000 jobs in its restructuring, while committing to creating 9,000 jobs in Germany through battery manufacturing and mobility services. Earlier this month, voters in 22 states approved ballot measures adding up to $201 billion in funding for transportation projects, according to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association. California passed 15 transportation measures, including one in Los Angeles worth $120 billion for roads, bridges, and transit. The state of Washington secured $54 billion for light rail and buses. Atlanta approved about $4 billion for road and transit projects. Illinois and New Jersey passed measures to prevent the diversion of transportation user fee revenue to other industries. A Delaware federal judge ordered the DOE to give the documents – which concern a presentation by Fisker to the DOE in which it falsely claimed to meet milestones set forth in a government loan – to lawyers in a case in which investors claim Fisker lied to them about financial troubles. While the DOE has given over documents already, they were incomplete and heavily redacted. "I understand that such disclosures may have a negative impact on future DOE analyses," says US District Judge Sue Robinson. "but conclude nonetheless that under the circumstances at bar – the public money at stake, the Congressional hearings, and the fact that Fisker Automotive is now a defunct company – the balance of interests favors plaintiffs." 2015 Volkswagen GTI [w/video]
Fri, 26 Apr 2013The 911 Of Hot Hatches Takes The Compact Game To New Levels
North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.
