 SOLID 1956 VW BUG
CLEAR TITLE

This is my 1956 VW Bug that I purchased in March of 1979. It was originally sold here in Louisiana and has lived here its entire life, and has approx 85,000 miles on it. I drove it regularly up until I began its restoration in 2004. I had the car completely disassembled and taken off of the chassis. and the engine was being rebuilt when Katrina flooded the shop that had the motor and the original motor was destroyed after sitting under water for almost a month. The chassis had been completely restored, new gas line, brake components bearings, front end aligned, new shocks etc but shortly afterward the shop went out of business due to the owner loosing his house in Katrina and he was uninsured. Our home was also flooded and I was distracted from this project indefinitely. Again, the chassis and body and all of the parts DID NOT FLOOD. The floor pan is very solid with only a small section needing replacing. There are no structural rust issues anywhere and there was a small amount of surface rust but that was treated with POR15 and a flat black primer was applied two years ago. The car sat in my garage at home until we moved into a new home a recently and the body was put back on the chassis has been covered under my carport out of the weather with all of the parts being stored, dry, in my rear building.
I have almost 100% of the parts necessary to reassemble this nice old Bug and almost everything is ready to put back together. I have all of the German window glass (with the exception of the front windshield), the original rear oval glass and side glass are excellent, and I have all of the rubber parts for the chassis, glass and doors, (German door rubber as you may be able to see in the photos) and new aluminum trim and scrapers and channels  for the windows. I have the original 'W'" rear deck lid with its original license plate light housing, hood, all turn signal and tail light components, window regulators,  hinge assemblies for the deck lids etc. I do have the original speaker grill and vent windows which have been rechromed and still look great. I bought all original style horsehair seat pads and red upholstery with white piping that is partly installed, no tears and very usable but not perfect, a few small rubbed points from storage.
I have the old door panels that you may use as a template but not new ones. The original steering wheel has been restored and needs painting and there is a Sapphire 1 radio included. The running boards are solid and new rubber and aluminum trim is included as is new floor rubber for the interior. I have included pictures and you may send me your email address if you need more. The body has a few small dings, never appears to have had major damage, for sure not in my near 40 years as the owner. There is a small dent in the top but this car is in amazingly good and solid condition. The rims are original and i have included a picture of one in the parts photo. The rims have been treated with a rust inhibitor and have an orange look but this is not rust. All four were sanded and treated and are nice and smooth. The chassis/body currently has a set of chrome rims in fair condition. Other than the front windshield and a motor, the only other major parts that you might need will be a set of bumpers, but the original supports are restored and included.  I think all of the small parts are there and most have been restored and even the gas tank is painted and the interior has been specially treated to protect against rust which a coating especially made for use on old gas tank interiors. I have the original wiring harness and the original 4 fuse, fuse box.
As with almost all vehicles sold on ebay, you must provide for your own transport from my home in New Orleans. There are lots of extra back up parts included. This VW has a free and clear title that is in my name. Please bid with confidence as I have tried not to overstate its condition and I have almost 14 years on ebay. This is one of the most solid vintage VW bugs that you will find, regardless of year. It was well cared for and deserves to see the streets again. Payment will be due within 5 days of listing end. Cashiers check or personal checks accepted (no pickup until either of these has cleared which will be from 4 days to 2 weeks after receipt of check.

European car sales up 8% in February

Sat, 22 Mar 2014

Three weeks ago an analyst increased projections for European car sales this year, expecting them to climb three percent compared to last year instead of 2.7 percent. That number is a postive sign after years of hard times but it turns out February was especially good, overall European sales climbing eight percent on a wave of southern European recovery and discounts - and this comes after five months of gains including January's 7.2-percent jump over the year before.
The only country of Europe's five largest markets to post a decline was France, just as it did in January, Germany, the UK and Italy posting solid double-digit numbers, Spain rocking the charts with an 18-percent increase because of a government program to encourage trade-ins.
The only brand to miss the wave was Volkswagen, dropping 0.8 percent as it watched the double-digit growth at sister brands Audi, Seat and Skoda lift the Volkswagen Group sales up by seven-percent. Peugeot overcame flat sales at Citroën to improve the group by 3.5 percent, BMW and the Mercedes-Benz/Smart combo rose by four percent, the Fiat group jumped 5.8 percent, Ford was up 11 percent, the Renault Group 11.5 percent, General Motors 12 percent and the Toyota clan by 14 percent.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.

Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
