of selling my 1st TDI and trying to pretend i could accept a minivan. The guy before me paid $85,000 sticker price.
There are only a couple hundred of these cars in existence in the U.S. and it is most definitely a collectors item.
The car has never been in an accident and over 28 years neither have I.
In addition to aforementioned options and maintenance last fall i had the drive shaft replaced which is a common
item to fail according to TDI forums around 75K miles. Also don't discount the 2 new batteries. Its an $1,900 job
to do w factory OEM batteries which this car has. The car needs nothing and has given me zero problems other than
the drive shaft breaking up. In Spring-14 i had new brakes and rotors all around done which was about 8K miles ago
rubber and pads are new all around.
This car is a monster and you wouldn't know it unless you had the guts to keep your foot to the floor. She pushes
620ft lb of torque as only a TDI does, as long as you can have the balls to keep your foot down. Unlike a gasoline
engine there are almost imperceptible shift points, the acceleration is unrelenting. And she will pull like that
with 2,5, or 10K lbs in tow just the same. For the record I only towed once for a friend and as i mentioned above
the hitch is factory and prewired.
Lets just say the AWD system mated to this twin turbo v-10 diesel is really impressive. The quality and
workmanship inside and out is very German. When the turbos spin up and you have the windows down you can hear the
whistle of these things spinning up anyone walking down the street knows this is not just another Toureg. I have
been stuck in 2-3' of snow up in NH or the Northeast on some fairly epic snowstorms the past two winters and this
truck at >6,000lbs is a tank in the snow. Holds the line and never ever gets stuck, not once. Even more
impressive to me is who she tracks at the limit in the ice and snow very assuring and easy to read. How well does

The car is unmodified and as you can see by the pictures in showroom new condition. I am a pilot and well you can
expect this car has been treated like a private jet because it has. Why am i selling? Answer: I'm not sure
exactly yet. My kids have horses and well if i'm going to be towing a bunch or stinky horse people around its
probably not a great use of this high end luxury SUV.

Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE concept previews new midsize CUV... again
Sun, Jan 11 2015Volkswagen has taken a big step towards the long-awaited second model to be built at its Chattanooga, TN factory, introducing the two-row Cross Coupe GTE Concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The relatively handsome two-row crossover borrows its basic styling language from the CrossBlue Concept that launched at the 2013 Detroit show (that we later had a brief chance to drive), and the CrossBlue Coupe from that year's Shanghai Motor Show. To be entirely frank, it just looks like a much more production-ready version of the Shanghai concept. The more aggressive elements of that model, like its rear taillights, rounded wheel arches, and aggressive front and rear fascias, have been toned down considerably. In other words, this concept almost wouldn't look out of place on the average road. Changes in the cabin are similarly minor, with the same basic design as the CrossBlue, complemented by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen display. While it's still quite clearly a concept car interior, it's not hard to imagine VW transitioning this cockpit into a production model. Riding atop the Volkswagen Group's MQB architecture – making it a relative, albeit distant, of cars like the VW Golf, Audi TT and the Euro-market Passat – the Cross Coupe GTE is motivated by a 3.6-liter VR6 that's been mated to not one, but two electric motors (one on each axle). The gas engine offers up 276 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the front axle's electric motor generates 54 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, and the rear can deliver a more robust 114 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque. That cacophony can be easily boiled down to this: the Cross Coupe GTE has a total system output of 355 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is good enough to get the five-seater to 60 miles per hour in six seconds, on to a top speed of 130 miles per hour. As a plug-in hybrid, though, there's more to the Cross Coupe GTE then just its power output. Range plays a big role, and in that regard, this concept is fairly average. It can cover 20 miles when its 14.1-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery is charged up. Beyond that, the drivetrain can be set to a number of modes to optimize the behavior of plug-in-hybrid powertrain. In E-Mode, which can be locked in via a battery hold/battery charge mode, all 20 miles of range are available, although the Cross Coupe's driver will only have the 114-hp rear axle electric motor to work with.

Sun, Dec 15 2019What could better demonstrate our diametric vehicular future than sound clips of the Volkswagen ID 3 and the Koenigsegg Jesko? Battery-electric vehicles don't make enough noise on their own, so VW partnered with composer Leslie Mandoki for the legally-mandated Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) that warns pedestrians and cyclists of the EV's presence. Mandoki — a German-Hungarian who once played drums in a Euro disco band called Dschinghis Khan — was asked to come up with a sound for the ID 3 that VW said "defines its identity," "radiates safety and the promise of effortless mobility," and that "must also impress with its unique character." The definition of the ID 3's single-motor, 201-horsepower character is this: Occupants and people around the hatch can hear the sound as the car accelerates to 18.6 mph, and when reversing. At higher speeds, the sound of wind resistance and tire noise takes over. As our library of AVAS tones grows, it's clear that EVs will provide a soundscape as varied as that of internal combustion engines. Volkswagen forced to sell stake in Suzuki
Mon, Aug 31 2015The six-year-long failed marriage between Volkswagen and Suzuki has finally come to an end. Almost. An arbitration panel in London issued its final verdict which, according to a VW press release, cleared Suzuki in terminating the agreement, so VW now needs to get rid of its 19.9-percent share. However, the tribunal's decision said VW performed all of its obligations and Suzuki didn't – the Japanese carmaker should have given VW last-call rights for a delivery of diesel engines, but failed to. The breach opens Suzuki up to damage claim, but so far VW only says it reserves the right to sue. Now that Suzuki has an outside investor to provide funds it meant to get from VW, perhaps both can get back to their reasons for being. The press release is below.
