hello this a Mexican thing with a 1600 motor.    it is the original motor with only 62,500 miles.  I bought it from an old fellow who parked it in1990, in his garage, because it started running funny.   I bought it and fixed it.  the choke was sticking.   now it runs great, whistles like a vw should.   I put a new gas tank in it, new tires, and a new top. it is ready to go. no rust in the trunk area, or engine compartment. windshield frame is perfect, windshield has a stone chip. doors are solid, not perfect but very good. the pass. side front fender has a small dent where bumper took a light tap.  seats are good, lights work, brakes are good. top is alittle tight yet needs to sit out in sun shine to stretch alittle more.  it will latch but it is tight.    floor pan was patched under battery, and one or two smalls holes I it. but still nice. I will try to show the holes in the pictures. you can drive it home.  have the tops of the doors.  they are not torn, but the plastic is alittle scratched and slightly yellowed. the body is good some rust here and there, I will try to show in picts.  there is a patch under the rear seat by battery in fender well.  over all it is in decent shape for its age.  looks good but not perfect.   runs great   . doors come off and windshield folds down like a jeep.   good daily driver, beach cruiser, or trail buggy.  has a good ohio title.  and sells without resevrve.   feel free to contact me if you want to come look at it, or want a close up picture of any thing.  thanks and have a good one. p.s. having alittle trouble with the pass side top latch I believe do to the top not being relaxed enough yet.

Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover

Sat, Jan 18 2014

It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.
