What we have here is a beautiful Sunshine Yellow 1973 VW Thing. The restoration was completed in the spring of 2014. This is a beautiful rust free example. Paint fresh and shows nicely, all chrome, mirrors, trim rings are new. All of the hardware for windshield, seat , seat belts etc replaced as well as new seat belts. All of the Black body edging on the doors is new and all rubber bumpers in the interior were replaced. New engine door seal and trunk seal as well. New tie rods and ends, carb rebuilt everything done right. Interior floor painted with expensive and durable ceramic paint for a long lasting finish. The engine was removed fully resealed all tinwork and exhaust was sandblasted and painted along with a new clutch pressure and throwout bearing. All new ignition, gaskets etc etc....no expense was spared. The entire top and framework is NEW at a cost of $1700! I installed after market kick panels with Pyle speakers ans a new antenna, a radio has yet to be installed but everything is there. I cannot verify the mileage but was told it was accurate. Volkswagen NMC production guise caught in China
Tue, 29 Apr 2014Chinese car site Autohome has what are said to be the first pictures of the Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe concept in production form. VW's NMC was just introduced at the Beijing Motor Show, while background chatter indicated it would go on sale in China, Autohome says that production version will be built at the Shanghai-Volkswagen plant in Ningbo, and the retail guise could be introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November and go on sale that same month.
Assuming this is the production car, its main lines have made the jump from the concept but with less fine detailing, a silver hue and with conventional VW wheels it's lost a little bit of oomph. Still, a few checkmarks on the option sheet can fix most of that, the shape remains handsome and the 2.0-liter turbo underhood keeps performance peppy and mileage frugal enough. Volkswagen could outsell GM in China for the first time in nine years
Fri, 27 Dec 2013As of the end of November, Volkswagen had sold 70,000 more cars than General Motors in China in 2013, making it appear inevitable that VW will outsell GM there. The feat would return the German brand to the top of chart in China for the first time in nine years, but even the second-place getter won't be complaining too loudly: both automakers sold more than three million vehicles in a market pegged to hit 16 million sales this year.
Volkswagen said it could have sold more cars if it had had more production capacity in China. The arrival of a new-to-China Audi A4, a China-built A3 sedan, the VW Bora and Skoda Octavia, as well as an $18.2-billion-euro investment in the country to construct new factories, means VW should see its numbers grow in 2014. GM's lineup is expanding next year, too, adding four Chevrolet nameplates and two vehicles to its Baojun brand as it tries to get to five million in sales by 2015.
Among other automakers, Ford benefited from good product and woes for Japanese automakers over a territorial dispute with China, outselling Toyota by almost 32,000 units through the end of November. The Ford Focus is China's best-selling vehicle so far this year.

Dubbed Sunny Side, this web-spot is VW's warmup of sorts for what promises to be another blockbuster year in the world of Super Bowl commercials. Without giving away the game, the euphonious commercial sees Cliff opening his arms and his heart to some YouTube 'celebrities' that might see courser treatment from the likes of Tosh.0, for instance. We can't help but be reminded of Coca-Cola's legendary 1971 Hilltop spot with the "I'd like to buy the world a Coke" lyric, too.
