This truck is located in Farmerville,LA. I'm creating this listing for my Dad, Darrel Meyers. If you have any questions he is the person to contact 318.331.2697. Please be respectful of call times.

Concerning the truck, the label in the door is hard to read. Looks like it was built 9/81. I won this truck for him on EBay two years ago. Since he has bought it, he has done the following: Installed rebuilt injectors, new molded carpet pad, the seats have been reupholstered by a professional shop, new radio, A/C compressor and drier, nice fresh paint, and new wheels.

The truck starts up great, and has that typical VW Rabbit strong clatter. It does have, I think about a 100 watt amp and a small prefab box behind the seat. This amp and prefab was in it when he bought it. I'm unsure of the brand/make of each. The dash looks great, and it not cracked up. It looks to have been garaged most of its life.

My parents are scaling down the vehicles they own as they are leaving for Arizona, and simply don't need it any longer. The buyer is responsible for their own transportation. Due to the fees of Paypal, the risk of counterfeit bills, and fraudulent cashiers/bank checks. The ONLY payment accepted will be POSTAL MONEY ORDERS.

Happy Bidding ! It will make someone a great vehicle to own and ride in. The reserve is set at $5000.

I'm having some trouble uploading some other pics. If you email me your address, I will get them to you.

2014 Volkswagen XL1 [w/video]

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

World's Most Efficient Car Impresses, Not Without Compromises
Among our many duties at the recent Geneva Motor Show, we were offered a pretty exclusive drive in the new Volkswagen XL1 hyper-efficient plug-in diesel hybrid. There is so much that is interesting about a car like this reaching production from a major automaker that it's tough to know where to begin.
First off, you should know that - at least for this generation - there is absolutely no chance in Albuquerque that this "1-liter vehicle" (i.e. a vehicle that can burn just one liter of fuel to travel 100 kilometers, or 62.1 miles) will ever make it into the hands of North American customers. We, too, were having trouble imagining an XL1 in typical American traffic, surrounded by comparatively massive pickups and SUVs. The driving experience had us recalling a couple of weeks in 1999 when we drove the then-revolutionary Honda Insight hybrid on US roads. We keenly remember the feeling of being very small and vulnerable, even as we felt proudly green in our 61-mpg Tochigi pod. Thing is, the Volkswagen is smaller still, and nearly as light despite its more complex drivetrain and safety features.

Volkswagen shows off performance-ish Passat concept

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well.
But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume.
It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.

European car sales up 8% in February

Sat, 22 Mar 2014

Three weeks ago an analyst increased projections for European car sales this year, expecting them to climb three percent compared to last year instead of 2.7 percent. That number is a postive sign after years of hard times but it turns out February was especially good, overall European sales climbing eight percent on a wave of southern European recovery and discounts - and this comes after five months of gains including January's 7.2-percent jump over the year before.
The only country of Europe's five largest markets to post a decline was France, just as it did in January, Germany, the UK and Italy posting solid double-digit numbers, Spain rocking the charts with an 18-percent increase because of a government program to encourage trade-ins.
The only brand to miss the wave was Volkswagen, dropping 0.8 percent as it watched the double-digit growth at sister brands Audi, Seat and Skoda lift the Volkswagen Group sales up by seven-percent. Peugeot overcame flat sales at Citroën to improve the group by 3.5 percent, BMW and the Mercedes-Benz/Smart combo rose by four percent, the Fiat group jumped 5.8 percent, Ford was up 11 percent, the Renault Group 11.5 percent, General Motors 12 percent and the Toyota clan by 14 percent.
