I am selling my 1988 VW Cabriolet due to the fact that I bought it with the intent that my teenager would drive it for her first car. She refuses to learn to drive a manual, so it has to go. The car is dependable and I drive it to work at least once a week. It is tagged and inspected till 2015. the only issues are:

the A/C does not blow cold. The compressor kicks on and is not making noise but the air is not cooled so it will need recharged and its an r-12 system.

There is an issue with the Cold Start injector that give it extra fuel in colder climates until it is up to temperature, well it thinks is cold outside everyday so you have to let the car warm up before driving off. Runs great and will run all day after it warms up.

Needs a radio.

Other than that is is a great little car and everyone is always asking me about it since you dont see them on the road much so it is an attention grabber. I recently put the black and white seat covers on and when i ordered them I accidently ordered 2 sets so there is another identical set that will go with the car also.

VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel

Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models. VW clubs pay it forward to fix elderly woman's vandalized '69 Bus

Not long after Thanksgiving, surveillance cameras caught four boys in Arizona throwing rocks through the windows of a 1969 Volkswagen bus belonging to an elderly woman called Ann. A few nights later they returned to the scene of the first crime and repeated it, smashing windows they missed before. Ann had no other car and no way to make a living, but when Jesus Aguilera – a member of the Arizona Bus Club Â– came across the incident on a Facebook page, he got to work. When he was finished, the AZ Bus Club and the Tucson Mob Squad had donated thousands of dollars to pay for new glass and get it installed, and now Ann has a magic bus she can drive again.
