1984 Volkswagen Vw Rabbit Diesel New Paint, No Rust on 2040-cars
Bangor, Maine, United States
For sale is a 1984 VW Rabbit with a 1.6 diesel engine (non turbo) with 236k miles. The engine is not running, so it is non operational. I do not what is wrong and not able to get it fixed. I have owned the car for 10 years. I drove it for about 5 years and was fun to drive and economical, getting about 40-45 miles/gallon. The car did run on vegetable oil for a couple years using a GreaseCar conversion kit. The equipment has since been removed and will not be included with the car.
The exterior of the car has been reconditioned with new paint, wheels, tires, caps, light covers. The car has been in a handful of car shows and took a lot of attention. A lot of money has been invested into the car with the exterior renovations and repairs, including a new rack and pinion steering rack and rebuilt fuel injector pump and new fuel injectors. The car has been in storage for the last 5 years and not driven due to family issues and inability to maintain car. The car has been taken well care of and has only been driven in 4 Maine winters out of the 30 years! The first owner was a part time resident and only drove it in the summer. I also did not drive it during the winter when road salt was applied. As a result, this car has little to no rust. The exterior was buffed out removing dings, scratches etc and given a new paint job. The original color was baby blue with exterior color now a dark blue. The paint on hood of car is scratched up since the paint job. The car comes 4 original VW wheel rims with 4 studded snow tires. Comes with the original owner's manual, repair manual. I am also including a box full of new parts including 2 wheel hubs, timing belt, oil pan gasket, fuel filter and an oil filter. Many repair bills are also included. Title is free and clear. In Maine, any car older than 1996 does not require a title nor does it need to be up to date. This is a PROJECT CAR and is NON OPERATIONAL and is being sold as-is. As mentioned above the exterior has been renovated but will need engine and electrical work. Prior to putting it into storage, I was in the process of redesigning the electrical system from scratch and had purchased and installed a new (rebuilt) injector pump ($500) and new fuel injectors. At least two of the doors are non functional (will not open from outside or inside). This car is good for someone that is looking for a project, is mechanical and has the time and money to put the car back on the road. I am the third owner, not the 5th owner, as mentioned in the auto report. 5% of this sale will be donated to the 11q Research and Resource Group. This organization to near and dear to my heart, as my daughter has this rare genetic condition. As a result of the financial and time constraints (to say the least) of having a special needs daughter, this is the true reason why this car is being sold! |

Ford Mustang Mach-E fails Sweden's moose test
Wed, Sep 29 2021The infamous moose test has claimed another casualty. This time it's the Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Long Range, which was tested in an electric four-way alongside the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Skoda Enyaq iV (an electric utility vehicle closely related to the Volkswagen ID.4 that is sold in the United States). According to the Swedish testers at Teknikens Varld, Ford's electric car not only failed to hit the speed necessary for a passing grade, it didn't perform well at slower speeds, either. To pass the outlet's moose test, a car has to complete a rapid left-right-straight S-shaped pattern marked by cones at a speed of at least 72 km/h (44.7 miles per hour). The test is designed to mimic the type of avoidance maneuver a driver would have to take in order to avoid hitting something that wandered into the road, which in Sweden may be a moose but could just as easily be a deer or some other member of the animal kingdom elsewhere in the world, or possibly a child or car backing into the motorway. Not only is the maneuver very aggressive, it's also performed with weights belted into each seat and more weight added to the cargo area to hit the vehicle's maximum allowable carrying capacity. The Mustang Mach-E only managed to complete the moose test at 68 km/h (42.3 mph), well below the passing-grade threshold. Even at much lower speeds, Teknikens Varld says the Mach-E (which boasts the highest carrying capacity and was therefore loaded with more weight than the rest of the vehicles tested in this quartet) is "too soft in the chassis" and suffers from "too slow steering." Proving that it is indeed possible to pass the test, the Hyundai and Skoda completed the maneuver at the 44.7-mph figure required for a passing grade and the Tesla did it at 46.6 mph, albeit with less weight in the cargo area. It's not clear whether other versions of the Mustang Mach-E would pass the test. It's also unknown if Ford will make any changes to its chassis tuning or electronic stability control software, as some other automakers have done after a poor performance from Teknikens Varld, to improve its performance in the moose test. Volkswagen Passat gets Wolfsburg Edition, priced from $23,495*
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Volkswagen has just announced a new Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which slots between the base S and mid-grade SE trims in terms of content and price. The automaker has not released any official photos of the car as of this writing (aside from the badge shot you see here, of course), but the Wolfsburg Passat will be visually set apart from the rest by a unique set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
The big host of upgrades for the Wolfsburg Edition are found inside, where buyers will enjoy standard amenities like leatherette seats (with bun-warmers on the front chairs), a power driver's seat, satellite radio and a media interface with iPod connectivity. Of course, this comes on top of the already standard Passat features like Bluetooth and auto on/off headlamps. The Wolfsburg Passat will only be available with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Look for the 2013 Wolfsburg Edition Passat to hit dealerships in the very near future, priced from $23,495, *not including $795 for destination. Have a look below for Volkswagen's official press blast.
Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal
Wed, 13 Feb 2013The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. For more details on the upcoming Cross Up!, check out VW's press release posted below.
