Up for auction is a 1982 VW Diesel Pickup. This is a project that I started three years ago. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2011 and the cancer is getting worse. The doctors haven't given me much more time to live, so it's time for me to sell my baby. I am a certified VW technician that actually worked on the trucks at the VW dealership back when they were selling these trucks. Listed below are the things that I have replace: The truck's floor boards were rusted out, so I welded in new metal and fiber glassed over top the top of the complete floor boards. There were several other common rust spots that I repaired. I used POR rust preventative paint in all of the areas that the rust was repaired. You can Google POR to acquire more information. New deflector headlights were installed along with HID kits. The engine was replaced with a later model engine with less that 90,000 miles. I have a friend that removed this engine from a later model Jetta many years ago. It was in storage for many years until after two years of bugging him to sell it to me, he finally did sell it to me. Replaced ALL external engine seals in the engine along with the timing belt and drive belts. Installed a remanufactured injection pump. Clutch kit. Installed a new stainless header along with a complete custom 2 1/2" exhaust system. My next project was going to be installing a turbo kit. The new turbo kit goes with the truck. See pictures. Installed an electric vacuum pump from a late model Audi. Everyone that has an early model VW diesel knows that the factory mechanical pumps are awful. All CV Boots. ALL shifter bushings and linkage rods. Front brake pads, caliper bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, transmission external seals, front strut inserts, strut bearing tops. Rear shoes, wheel cylinders, parking brake cable, wheel bearings, shocks. Replaced front windshield and seal, rear window seal, early style GTI steering wheel, custom fitted later model center console and late model seat belts. New custom racing seats, new carpet, new leather shift knob, interior was dyed black, The dash has not been cut up and still uses the old knob style radio. JVC A/M F/M Cassette radio. New speakers. Heater blower motor and resister. Still has the factory R-12 A/C system that works great. Things that the truck still needs: I left the original body trim holes, so I was still looking for the factory body trim that goes from the front fender to the rear finder. Rust has started back on the right rear fender behind the wheel (see pictures). Turbo kit needs to be installed. Comes with a new boost gauge. The electric brake booster pump is currently mounted on the firewall and is a little noisy. It needs to be mounted somewhere else near the front (maybe on the transmission). The trucks runs great and gets compliments from people every tme I drive it. Anyone that is local is welcome to come test drive it. Just contact me mhemrick@triad.rr.com The vehicle is also being sold locally and the seller has the right to end or cancel the auction at any time.

VW, Suzuki mulling rekindling relationship in face of legal battle
Sat, 27 Jul 2013Volkswagen and Suzuki have been undergoing marriage counseling in a bid to avoid finalizing their nasty divorce. The blissful union has been troubled for some time, with Volkswagen claiming that it could affect operational decisions at Suzuki, and the Japanese brand's sniping and constant flirting with a certain Italian temptress causing rifts.
The matter first went to court in 2012, when Suzuki demanded VW get out, and leave its 19.9-percent stake in the Japanese brand in a box to the left. Now, Automotive News is reporting that the company will give the relationship one last shot, according to closed-door dealings between the two in London.
Still, it's understood that VW and Suzuki recognize the benefit of their alliance, and that it'd be in the best interests of the kids both parties to make things work. Spokespeople declined to comment to AN, but the newsmagazine spoke with Frank Biller, an analyst for LBBW in Stuttgart, who said, "Both companies stand to benefit if they can overcome the disagreements over leadership claims."
Editors' Picks March 2022 | Acura RDX, VW GLI and a Rolls-Royce
Tue, Apr 5 2022This month's Editors' Picks offer a little something at every budget. We call out a performance car as cheap as the Volkswagen GLI, but the Rolls-Royce Ghost also manages to make its way on to the list. Of course, very few folks can afford a Ghost, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an engineering master class. In addition to these options, we also dive into the compact luxury SUV market, one that is bursting with choices. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Acura RDX Quick take: The RDX ticks a lot of boxes for a great price. It drives better than expected, offers excellent tech, has plenty of room and even looks the part. Score: 7.0 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, Infiniti QX50, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Genesis GV70, Porsche Macan, Jaguar F-Pace, Lincoln Corsair Pros: Value, driving dynamics, space Cons: Infotainment is polarizing, midgrade interior From the editors Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "The RDX is a bit of a sleeper in this segment. It drives far better than many of its competitors, and it doesn't let you down in any particular area. If you were thinking of buying an entry-level option from one of the Germans, make sure you take the RDX into account, because you'll likely end up with more tech and features for an even lower price. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Acura RDX is an impressive value in the small luxury SUV segment. It starts in the low $40,000 price range, and provides loads of standard convenience and safety features. Everything is packaged in a sharp and surprisingly spacious package, too. It's also nimble and has a punchy engine that makes it fun to drive. You may find some competitors that surpass it in some areas, but the Acura offers about the most for the money of anything in the segment." In-depth analysis: 2022 Acura RDX Review | Value-packed and surprisingly sporty  2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Quick take: The GLI offers excellent driving dynamics and great styling for someone who doesn't want a hatchback. It's pricey, but it's worth it.
10 best new car deals in late September 2021
Wed, Sep 29 2021New car sales were drastically affected in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but things started to show signs of recovery toward the end of the year before really coming on strong in the early months of 2021. Now there's an ongoing shortage of microchips causing a great deal of pricing fluctuation and a limited supply of certain vehicles. That doesn't mean there aren't still great deals on new cars, though. Using data provided by TrueCar, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best automotive deals for September 2021. WeÂ’ve noted the original MSRP, the average transaction price, and the total savings in both dollars and as a percentage of the original sticker price. Basically, weÂ’ve done all the hard work for you! So now, all you need to do is compare deals, go on a few test drives, and maybe drive away in a great car (and an even better bargain).
