Welcome!!!You are viewing my 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLX Station Wagon. These are hard to find with low mileage. The mileage just hit 104k miles, which is very low for a 2002. This is the V6 2.8 Engine. It has a lot of power and great gas mileage. About 25 MPG. You can tell the engine is in great working order, running so smooth with such acceleration and power. Doesnt drive like a typical slow Station Wagon. This V6 is FAR SUPERIOR than the 1.8 Turbo version, you may see. That engine always blows turbos and has smoking problems. NOT MINE! The 2.8 is the more durable engine. Another great factor is the Front Wheel Drive system. This is more than enough in the snow/rain, and handles great, with its very balanced power to weight ratio. This FWD system is much better than the AWD Passats, for the simple reason that the AWD versions ALWAYS break transmissions at low mileages. Its common sense, since the 4 wheels are turning, its more pressure on the transmission, which is why they break on the AWD Passats. NOT MINE! The FWD transmissions are known easily to last over 200K miles without any questions asked. In the end, the car is very cheap to maintain. And this wagon is set up to last for years, with minimal costs. Ive only owned for about a year, but I never really used it too much. I just fixed a few things, like new axles, new brakes, brand new battery, oil changes, engine valve cover gaskets and brand new engine mounts. These are all expected wear items at about 100k miles, which have been changed. The timing belt/water pump was done early at about 50k miles, since dealers usually say about 60k miles. I have not changed it, though the previous owner did. If you would like me to change it again, and show you receipts and leave old parts in the car. I will do so for an extra $500.Which will include Timing Belt, Timing Belt tensioner, and Water pump. I will not throw it in. Timing belt jobs, can run up to $2000 at the dealer. I have a friend who owns a German repair shop, right down the block from my house. PRICE IS $4950!!!PRICE IS NON NEGOTIABLE AND FIRM. These are in the books for about $6000 to $6500. The body/paint has regular expected wear/tear. Few scratches, small dings as shown. You can clearly see. Im hiding nothing. The rear bumper has some scuffs, from a incident years ago. The car has never been in any major accident ever. There has never been any kind of paintwork done. Its original. The inside leather is in real nice shape, with wear, but no tears. I can easily arrange low cost shipping to surrounding states or across country. If you want to purchase it right away, without losing to someone else, call me at 516-996-5252, and I will work with you on the arrangements. If you want to fly in, the closest airports are JFK or LGA. LGA is the cheaper/closer one. PLEASE Call if your serious, and please dont email me a bunch of questions, if your not a real serious buyer.

Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE concept previews new midsize CUV... again

Sun, Jan 11 2015

Volkswagen has taken a big step towards the long-awaited second model to be built at its Chattanooga, TN factory, introducing the two-row Cross Coupe GTE Concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The relatively handsome two-row crossover borrows its basic styling language from the CrossBlue Concept that launched at the 2013 Detroit show (that we later had a brief chance to drive), and the CrossBlue Coupe from that year's Shanghai Motor Show. To be entirely frank, it just looks like a much more production-ready version of the Shanghai concept. The more aggressive elements of that model, like its rear taillights, rounded wheel arches, and aggressive front and rear fascias, have been toned down considerably. In other words, this concept almost wouldn't look out of place on the average road. Changes in the cabin are similarly minor, with the same basic design as the CrossBlue, complemented by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen display. While it's still quite clearly a concept car interior, it's not hard to imagine VW transitioning this cockpit into a production model. Riding atop the Volkswagen Group's MQB architecture – making it a relative, albeit distant, of cars like the VW Golf, Audi TT and the Euro-market Passat – the Cross Coupe GTE is motivated by a 3.6-liter VR6 that's been mated to not one, but two electric motors (one on each axle). The gas engine offers up 276 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the front axle's electric motor generates 54 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, and the rear can deliver a more robust 114 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque. That cacophony can be easily boiled down to this: the Cross Coupe GTE has a total system output of 355 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is good enough to get the five-seater to 60 miles per hour in six seconds, on to a top speed of 130 miles per hour. As a plug-in hybrid, though, there's more to the Cross Coupe GTE then just its power output. Range plays a big role, and in that regard, this concept is fairly average. It can cover 20 miles when its 14.1-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery is charged up. Beyond that, the drivetrain can be set to a number of modes to optimize the behavior of plug-in-hybrid powertrain. In E-Mode, which can be locked in via a battery hold/battery charge mode, all 20 miles of range are available, although the Cross Coupe's driver will only have the 114-hp rear axle electric motor to work with.

Volkswagen's new Passat Alltrack ready to scale the Alps

Thu, Feb 19 2015

Volvo may be stepping up its off-roading game with a greater variety of Cross Country models tumbling out the factory in Gothenburg, but the other (larger) European automaker whose name starts with the letters V-O-L is also broadening and updating its range of road-going automobiles equipped to handle a little soft-road duty. Aside from Audi's Allroad line, Skoda's Scout models and the new Seat Leon X-Perience, the Volkswagen brand itself has recently showcased Alltrack versions of the Golf, Multivan and of course the Passat. And now it's announced a new version of the latter for the European market. Based on the Euro-spec Passat Variant, the new VW Passat Alltrack follows a familiar formula: take a station wagon, equip it with all-wheel drive, jack up the suspension, add some lower body cladding and some new trim and – voila! – you've got a pseudo rough-roader on your hands. Set to debut in just a couple of weeks from now at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new Passat Alltrack is visually distinguished by its new bumpers, underbody protection, beefed-up wheel arch moldings and a ride height increased by over an inch to the benefit of ground clearance as well as approach and departure angles. European buyers who like to leave the road every once in a while (or give the impression that they do) will be able to choose from a range of five engines: two burning gasoline with either 148 horsepower or 217, and three diesels available in 148-, 187- or 237-hp states of tune. The base TSI and TDI engines are mated to a six-speed manual, while the top three are hooked up to a six-speed DCT, but they all come with 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard. All but the base TSI model boast a towing capacity of 1,800 kg, enhanced by a Trailer Assist system that automatically lines the vehicle up to a trailer. It even comes equipped with an off-road mode that incorporates Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Assist to make any journey across the Alps a breeze. Wolfsburg / Geneva, 19 February 2015 World premiere of the new Passat Alltrack All-wheel drive all-rounder combines the best of on-road and off-road driving - Passat Alltrack: 100 per cent 4MOTION – from 150 PS to 240 PS - Superior off-road performance with off-road mode and all-wheel drive Ten important facts about the world premiere of the Passat Alltrack: 1. Permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. 2. Distinctive off-road look with new bumpers, underbody protection, door sill and wheel arch trims. 3.

Child cobalt miners: Automakers pledge ethical minerals sourcing for EVs

Wed, Nov 29 2017

BERLIN - Leading carmakers including Volkswagen and Toyota pledged on Wednesday to uphold ethical and socially responsible standards in their purchases of minerals for an expected boom in electric vehicle production. Demand for minerals such as cobalt, graphite and lithium is forecast to soar in the coming years as governments crack down on vehicle pollution and carmakers step up their investments in electric models. To cover its plans for more than 80 new models by 2025, Volkswagen alone is looking for partners in China, Europe and North America to provide battery cells and related technology worth more than 50 billion euros ($59 billion). Talks with major cobalt producers, including Glencore, at VW's Wolfsburg headquarters last week ended without a deal. More than half of the world's cobalt comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country racked by political instability and legal opacity, and where child labor is used in mines. On Wednesday, a group of 10 leading passenger-car and truck manufacturers announced an initiative to jointly identify and address ethical, environmental, human and labor rights issues in raw materials sourcing. The partnership dubbed "Drive Sustainability" consists of VW, Toyota Motor Europe, Ford, Daimler, BMW, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars and truckmakers Scania and Volvo. The alliance "will assess the risks posed by the top raw materials (such as mica, cobalt, rubber and leather) in the automotive sector," said Stefan Crets of the CSR Europe business network. "This will allow Drive Sustainability to identify the most impactful activities to pursue" to address issues within the supply chain.Reporting by Andreas Cremer.Related Video: Image Credit: Michael Robinson Chavez/The Washington Post via Getty Images Green BMW Ford Honda Jaguar Land Rover Mercedes-Benz Automakers Toyota Volkswagen Volvo Green Automakers Green Culture Electric Scania ethics mining
