Night Blue Metallic Automatic 2.5 Se Passat With Moonroof, Alloy Wheels, Leather on 2040-cars

Year:2013 Mileage:14900

Scottsdale, Arizona, United States

I am a wholesale dealer and owner of an auto body shop in Arizona, who has been selling to dealers only since 2001. I visit many auctions and buy cars and trucks to customize or repair and resell them back to retail dealers. My company almost never offers cars or trucks to the public ( four in 13 yrs) but I very rarely deal in salvage title vehicles. However, I ran across this Passat at the auction in Las Vegas, Hertz had this car for sale and after inspecting it, I was amazed that they salvaged this title. But Hertz, unlike the other rental companies is known to do this often. The vehicle took a hit on the front passenger side and triggered the airbag system. Being in the auto repair business, I am aware that sometimes even if it is not a bad accident, all it has to do is trigger the sensor. Knowing the car needed very little in regards of the fix, I purchased it and brought it back to my shop. I replaced the airbags with factory OEM ones, and fixed the bodywork.  After finishing the car, I liked it so much I have made it my daily driver back and forth to my shop. (23 miles across Phoenix each way) therefore the miles will go up a few hundred by the end of the auction.
This Passat is loaded with options and looks and drives like brand new. After driving it to the shop and back a few times, I decided that this car would be perfect for someone wanting to get a practically new car for a lot less . So I am offering this one to the public instead of me passing it on to an independent dealer. I welcome any questions and inspections on this unit. Just message me on ebay, and I will get back to you. I also deal with shipping companies throughout the country so shipping ( at my cost) will not be a problem.  If the winner bidder is from Arizona, sales tax has to be added, but being that I never sale to the public- I'm not going to charge a document fee. Thanks for looking and happy bidding, but please do not bid if you do not have the funds to pay for it.  Also I reserve the right to end the auction before the ending time if sold locally.

VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.

Production Volkswagen Taigun crossover caught in patent filing?

Wed, 01 May 2013

Volkswagen brought an angular, bulldog-like small crossover concept called Taigun to the São Paulo motor show last year, claiming that it wanted to gauge interest in the design before making a decision about production. If a new report with alleged leaked patent images is to be believed, then, interest must have been pretty high.
China's Auto.Sohu.com has published this group of Taigun images, claiming that they have been sourced from the Chinese patent office and that the subcompact VW utility based on the Up! has been cleared for production.
If all of that is true, and if these images are representative of the final product, you'll see that designers haven't done much to alter the concept car's appearance. Comparing, shot for shot, with the images we have from Brazil, we see that even small details like roof rack-mounted lights and exhaust tips integrated in the rear fascia have been carried over. Take a closer look for yourself in the attached galleries.

VW joins Daimler's protest of new A/C refrigerant as EU deadline for compliance passes

Sun, 06 Jan 2013

The case of Dupont and Honeywell's refrigerant R-1234yf is doing the exact opposite of keeping things cool. The two chemical companies have spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars developing R-1234yf to replace R-134a, the new refrigerant shown to be 99.7-percent kinder to the environment than the one it is meant to succeed. Part of that development has been years of testing by governments, outside safety agencies and automakers to approve the chemical for use in cars. It passed the protocols necessary for the European Union to declare that new and significantly revised cars from 2013 onward needed to use R-1234yf, and mandated that every car as of 2017 must use it.
Enter Daimler AG. The automaker created a head-on collision test with a B-Class at their Sindelfingen test track that would lead to the pressurized refrigerant being sprayed on the engine. The result in 20 out of 20 test was that the refrigerant burst into flames as soon as it hit the hot engine, while Daimler says that R-134a does not catch fire in the same test. Another unexpected result of the R-1234yf test was the release of hydrogen flouride, a chemical far more deadly to humans than hydrogen cyanide, emitted in such amounts that it that turned the windshield white as it began to eat into the glass.
Said a Daimler engineer in a Reuters piece, "It was scarcely believable. The most complicated lab tests conducted using the most sensitive measuring instruments around found nothing and all we do is drive a car around a couple of times, open a tiny hole in the refrigerant line and the next thing you know the car is on fire." So Daimler said it wouldn't use the refrigerant, and it recalled the cars it had already shipped with R-1234yf.
