We are pleased to present this absolutely amazing 2004 Volkswagen Passat for your consideration. We recently acquired this Passat from a car dealership where it was traded in by its ORIGINAL owner on a brand new car. This Passat has had just ONE loving owners since it was new, and they took remarkably good condition of this car. In fact, I would say that this is probably the nicest Passat we've ever sold! The exterior and interior of this car are nearly flawless. Thare are hardly even any dings or scratches on the car! It is getting very difficult to find these cars in such good condition, and this is the absolute top of the line for 2004. It has every possible option, except for the automatic transmission.. The 30V 2.8 V6 combined with the 5 Speed manual transmission is a completely bulletproof combination. With just minor maintenance, these cars will run forever and ever. These are the cars that I personally recommend that my friends buy because of their reliability and their "bang for the buck" factor. There is no other car on the road where you can get all of the features for such little money. The interior of this Passat is in very good condition. In fact, overall, this is one of the nicest interiors we've ever seen in one of these cars. The  black leather seats are in nearly perfect condition for the car's age with no tears and  minimal cracking. They're still very soft, and feel great. They're also heated for your comfort. Everything in the interior works. Even both cup holders aren't broken! The car has a fancy upgraded "Monsoon" stereo system that includes a CD and Cassette player. It's easy to use, and sounds excellent. It also has a power moonroof. There is a cup holder that accommodates two beverages. This VW has dual front airbags, as well as front side airbags and curtain airbags for the front and rear passengers. Because it has the climate package, it does have heated front seats, as well as heated exterior mirrors, heated windshield washer nozzles, and heated door lock cylinders. The rear seats do fold flat for hauling large cargo. There is a set of carpet floor mats included which are in nice condition, though there is some wear on the drivers front floor mat. Even the carpet in the trunk is VERY nice inside. There is a retractable sunshade on the rear window which is ideal for shading the rear seat passengers. It also adds a bit of privacy. This Passat also has On*Star which only came on 2004 and 2005 Passat GLX models. The exterior of this Passat is in remarkably good condition for the year and miles, and is Reflex Silver in color. We could find literally no scratches or dings anywhere on this car. The only exception is the MINOR scratch on the trunk! The interior AND exterior are nearly flawless. Even the wheels are in great shape. It has very nice  5 spoke alloy wheels which are in very good condition. The tires on the wheels are brand new! Overall, this car could easily pass for a new car!   The tires are all in nice shape with excellent tread life remaining, because they are new! The brakes are in good shape and the car stops as it should. The legendary 2.8 Liter 30Valve V6 cylinder engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth. This is one of the smoothest engines made by Volkswagen, and it is likely the first thing you will notice upon driving the car. The transmission also operates properly. It's very smooth shifting with no abnormalities, and the clutch feel excellent with no slipping. All of the car's accessories work including the power windows and moonroof. These cars rarely have major mechanical problems. The timing belt service has been completed. If you have any questions about the car I can be reached at 631-495-3688

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry

Wed, Dec 1 2021

The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer.  The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
