Up for sale is a Never Smoked in or wrecked 2004 Passat Wagon TDI. I am the second owner I have owned it since 16k miles previous owner bought new in FL and did not like the diesel somehow she got vw to take back the car and traded for a gas one vw sent the car to auction I bought it right here on ebay flew to Alabama and drove it home to FL. This car was driven mostly by my Wife and was the car of choice for yearly summer vacations to the smokie mountains in NC. The car is very comfortable to drive it averages in the mid 30s for mpg no matter how you drive on the hwy it shines 38-40 mpg at 80 mph you can't beat it. Lots of tourqe and get up and go. Feels like a six cylinder. I have done all the maintenance myself always used synthetic oil 505.1 oil filter always changed with oil and fuel filter changed every other oil change shes running like a champ no oil pump noise that I have heard of on the tdi forums no problems with the transmission the car has 131k miles on the odometer but the engine has 65k miles on the top end that was replaced by vw when it had around 66k miles on it. A defective timing belt went and the top end of the motor was replaced with a new head not a rebuilt one new valves, cam, oil pump drive ect the work was done by vw on 11/2008 I have all receipts no problems since.
Whats New : The tires are 60k goodyear fuelmax with 10k on them, The right front drive, Cv boots, Alternator, Battery, AC cooling fan, New breaks front and rear.
Whats bad : Super Small coolent leak about a cup a month it is the coolent flange $66 part I was going to have it fixed when I have the timing belt replaced which is coming due in the next 20k miles timming belt kit $220 their are a few door dings and minor scratches some of the soft touch coating has rubbed off on the center console.
Other than that it is a clean fuel efficient car with no problems. The reason I am selling is the Wife bought a new subaru outback pretty much the same car but she lost 10+ mpg and half the power ouch I would keep it but I have a truck for towing and three vehicles we dont need. Hate to see it go. But, got to keep the Wife happy. Also will include a set of cross bars for the roof racks.

Audi CVT suit settlement given green light, 64,000 cars covered
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Audi drivers, listen up. If you bought or leased a 2002-06 model-year A4 or A6 with a factory-installed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that failed, you may be entitled to reimbursement under a recently settled class-action lawsuit with corporate parent Volkswagen.
According to Automotive News, the settlement covers about 64,000 vehicles and alleges that "manufacturing and design problems caused the transmissions to fail and left owners stuck with repair costs." While the suit also argues Audi was aware of these issues (going so far as to hide that knowledge from consumers), the settlement stops short of acknowledging any wrongdoing by the German automaker.
Audi drivers are eligible for a cash reimbursement if their CVT repairs occurred within 10 years or 100,000 miles of the date they bought or leased the vehicle before June 19, 2013. To be eligible for compensation, drivers must submit a claim form (found here) with supporting documents by November 18.
VW fix would have cost $335 per vehicle
Wed, Sep 30 2015Since the Volkswagen diesel kerfuffle began, Bosch, the world's largest auto supplier, has been hooked up to a bullhorn trying to make sure everyone knows its side of the story. Bosch supplied VW with the engine management testing software, including delivery and metering modules, that VW then used to skirt emissions laws in the US. Bosch told VW in 2007 that it was illegal to use the software in cars it planned to sell yet VW did it anyway, according to reports coming out in German newspapers Bild am Sonntag and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. That first warning came two years after VW started developing the small-displacement diesel, around the time that the two men pushing its development, then-brand chief Wolfgang Bernhard and engineer Rudolf Krebs, were telling their superiors that the engine needed AdBlue urea injection to pass US emissions. VW cost controllers wouldn't approve the AdBlue solution because it would add 300 euros ($335 US) to the cost of the vehicle. Bernhard and Krebs left the same year that Bosch advised VW about the software, two years before the engine went into production. That's when things get cloudy. A report in Automotive News says that when Martin Winterkorn took over in 2007 as head of the VW Group and brand, he asked Ulrich Hackenberg and Wolfgang Hatz to keep working on the engine, and "[the] engine then ended up in VW Group diesels" with that problematic software still intact. No one has yet pointed any fingers at this latter chain of command, but like a game of Clue, right now they're the professors in the library holding the candlesticks. Warnings didn't only come from the supplier: Frankfurter says VW's initial investigation has found that an engineer issued the same caution to the company in 2011. Neither Bosch nor VW would comment on the reports.
VW readying CC Shooting Brake?
Mon, 11 Feb 2013This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.
