Very nice used Passat wagon, 1.8l Turbo, 5 speed. Timing belt, water pump, tensioner, & coolant replaced with new vw parts in April 2012 at 129,381. Turbo replaced with a reman. unit from vw in August 2012 at 137,647. Spark plugs replaced with new parts from napa in December 2012 at 145,312. Fuel pump replaced with New vw part in March 2013 at 149,250. Rear brake pads replaced with new napa parts in March 2013 at 149,258. New Pa. inspection, good till May 2014. Wanted to mention there is small scuff marks on the Left front bumper cover, also there is a small dent in the left rear fender lip, and also a small piece of trim missing on the left rear in front of the rear wheel, all items mentioned are shown in pictures. I am Auto mechanic and bought this car from the customer because the car would not run and the customer was looking for a reason to buy a newer car, so I bought it and put the fuel pump in it and new rear brakes. I have also performed the repairs that are listed above. Car runs really well, Many miles left in this one. Any Questions Please ask And I will Try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines
Tue, 22 Apr 2014Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.
VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC
Sat, 22 Jun 2013Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.
