2002 VW Passat. Car runs and drives and has been a daily driver but it does need some work to be 100%. This is a great car for someone to drive and fix as they go along. Here is the deal. Over the last few weeks I decided to sell the car and buy a new one. This car has been good but it needs more work than I'd like to get into and I just want a new car so its time for it to go. I'm ready to buy, like buy now.....this weekend. SO I need this sold, preferably by this weekend and its priced as such.

Pwr and Heated seats
Pwr Windows and locks with keyless entry

Runs and drives. Engine is strong and transmission shifts good, no slipping. Sometimes shifts a little funny but nothing that seems too concerning. Interior is clean and consistent with the age. Leather heated seats are in great condition. Body is solid with no rust and the paint shines nice. Does have a few dings and some paint work to the hood and both fenders. The paint work looks ok but the color doesn't match 100%. The damage was from a deer. Hood and one fender were damaged. No air bag deployment.

The tires are decent, probably needs two right away, it has a vibration at highway speeds that seems to be coming from the rear tire. Needs rear brakes and rotors, The front brakes and rotors are new. Drivers side door lock only works with the key. And just yesterday we noticed an oil leak, which at best glance appears to be coming from the oil pan, looks to have a very small crack in the pan. The check engine light is on.  A few of the Radio knobs are missing. The A/C unit isn't blowing very cold but who needs that this time of the year.

Recent new parts are both front exhaust pipes and 02 sensors, Belt and frt brakes and rotors.

Its still a Passat!. A great car that just needs some work, perfect for a handy person to fix up.

The Car is located in Germantown TN. Clear PA title in hand ready to txfr, the car is from PA. Paypal deposit of $200 due within 24hrs of auction end. Cash balance due by Saturday 2/1. I would like the pick up to be on Fri or sat next week. This works best because its when I get my other car.

2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

More Fun Than A Prius, Less Sensible Than A TDI
Let's have some fun, and do some math. We're talking pretty rudimentary stuff, multiplication and division, to figure out if the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can make a baseline case for itself against two very strong competitors in this segment. The competitors in question, at least for now, are two more Jettas: the diesel-drinking TDI and the fit-for-the-masses SE with VW's long-serving 2.5-liter engine.
To keep the equations clean and simple (hey, we're writers), we'll calculate based on the most flattering EPA miles per gallon stat from highway driving for all cars, assume a healthy 20,000 miles driven per year, and factor in today's average cost for the respective fuels these three require: diesel (TDI), regular (SE) and premium (Hybrid). We'll also start with the base prices for all models.

Prop-driven VW Beetle hopes to land in Bonneville [w/video]

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Sometimes you meet folks who, when they tell you "Hey, I have an idea," your reflex response is to stop what you're doing and tell yourself, "Get ready...." We imagine Mike Niemans is one of those folks, and the idea in question is putting a tank engine on a Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle. Not just any old tank engine - as if there were such a thing when we're talking about putting them in cars - but a 668-cubic-inch, 220-horsepower radial engine built by Continental in 1941 and procured from an M2 tank.
In the image above Nieman is using the tank clutch hub to get the motor set up, but in one of the images below you can see what really belongs back there is: a two-inch, reverse-pitch prop taken from a wind generator. He says there's enough mojo with the propeller action to get the car rolling down the runway like a jet when he gives it gas - and speaking of gas, the engine's been refitted to run on propane.
After a few safety tweaks Nieman's going to take the matte-black Beetle to Bonneville, "put the prop on, let her go and see what happens!" We can't wait to see the video of that. There are two shakedown videos below to get you ready.

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Read the official announcement after the break.
